“Fine, Victoria, mark my words! If anything happens to Mom, I’ll make you pay!” Curtis threatened.
Victoria stayed calm. “I’ll be waiting. Don’t just talk tough. Let’s see if you actually do something.”
After sending Julia, Curtis, and Angelica away, Daisy was still upset by Curtis’s words earlier, feeling a tightness in her chest.
It took her a while to calm down before she finally looked at Victoria.
“Victoria, Julia isn’t really in trouble, is she?” Daisy asked.
Victoria smiled. Her kind new mom was just too soft–hearted. Even now, she was still worried about Julia.
“Don’t worry, Mom. She’ll be fine. I just couldn’t stand her trying to bully you, so I gave her a little taste of her own medicine,” Victoria said.
Daisy instantly realized that Julia’s sudden illness was all Victoria’s handiwork.
Once she knew Julia wasn’t actually in trouble, Daisy’s feisty side came right back out.
Daisy said, “I’m not scared of Julia trying to push me around. What really gets me is how they talk about you! It hurts me to see them treat you like that.
“How can they be so cruel? The second they saw sucking up to you wasn’t working, they flipped on you without a second thought!”
Victoria replied, “Mom, their nasty words don’t bother me at all. And you shouldn’t let it get to you either. If you get too worked up, you’ll just end up with a couple more wrinkles, and those are a pain to get rid of.”
Daisy couldn’t help but laugh. “At almost fifty, a few extra wrinkles are just par for the course.”
Although she was Julia’s sister–in–law, Daisy was actually two years younger. She’d just turned forty–six this
year.
Victoria protested, “Still, those wrinkles shouldn’t be thanks to Curtis and the others. If they’re the reason, I’ll definitely add it to their tab.”
Daisy couldn’t stay mad after hearing Victoria’s words. “What a treasure of a daughter I’ve got–always knowing how to make me happy.”
After having Zoe get rid of the oatmeal Julia made, Daisy grabbed Victoria’s hand, her eyes full of curiosity. “Victoria, was that special herb you gave Gerry last night something you grew yourself?”
Victoria didn’t hide it. “Yeah.”
“You’re incredible! I can’t believe you actually grew something so rare!” Daisy exclaimed.

Once Daisy was sure, she continued, “I’ve noticed you’ve been busy with those herbs you brought back from the village lately. When your dad and I went to pick you up, I heard you chatting with your relatives about your herb garden.
“Last night, your dad and I talked it over, and we decided to clear out a spot in the backyard for you to set up your own herb garden. That way, you can continue your work with medicinal herbs right here at home. What do you think?”
Victoria thought, ‘My gorgeous new mom and charming new dad are so incredibly considerate!‘
Victoria nodded right away. “Sounds great!”
‘Looks like I didn’t do anything unnecessary after all, Daisy thought, feeling genuinely happy she could help Victoria out.
“If you ever need anything, just let your dad and me know. Don’t ever feel like you’re bothering us,” she said.
“Got it!” Victoria replied.
“Alright, go do your thing. I’m off to get my face pampered. Otherwise, I might really end up with a couple more wrinkles from all this stress today,” Daisy joked, patting her own cheek.
Victoria grinned. “Okay, but Mom, you’re always gorgeous in my eyes–even wrinkles just make you look even better!”
Daisy beamed, happiness written all over her face. “You’re such a sweet–talker!”
“So, do you like it, Mom-?” Victoria said playfully.
“Love it! Absolutely love it!” Daisy replied.
After cleaning up the kitchen mess left by Julia, Zoe stood in the doorway, watching the tender moment between Daisy and Victoria. She felt tears prick her eyes at the sight of such a loving mother and devoted daughter.
With Victoria in her life, Daisy’s face was brighter than ever. Her smiles came so much more often now.

After helping Julia back to Silverwood Villa, Curtis immediately called in the family doctor to check on her.
The doctor finished his examination, shook his head at a loss, and said, “Mrs. Binder isn’t actually sick. It looks more like she just snapped for a moment. Her nerves are completely shot.”
‘First Simon, now Mrs. Binder, why do I keep seeing stuff I can’t fix?‘ the doctor thought, feeling uneasy. ‘Did this family mess with someone they shouldn’t have?‘
Curtis frowned, his impatience showing. “What can you do to help my mom right now?”
The doctor looked uneasy. “Honestly, I don’t have anything specific for this. All I can do is give Mrs. Binder some sedatives and keep an eye on her.”

“Then hurry up and give it to her,” Curtis demanded, leaving no room for argument.
The doctor pulled out some sedatives from his bag and helped Julia take them.
Within a few minutes, Julia started to calm down and soon fell into a deep sleep.
After the doctor left, Angelica spotted a silver needle lying on the couch.
“Curtis, look, what’s this?” she asked.
Curtis narrowed his eyes. “A silver needle?”

Angelica’s eyes widened as the pieces clicked together. She covered her mouth, shocked. “Could Victoria have messed with her?”
She shook her head, unable to believe it. “How could Victoria do something like that? She actually did something to Mom…”
But Curtis wasn’t surprised at all. “What’s she afraid of? She’d do anything! Like I said–even if she’s got some tricks up her sleeve, so what? We don’t need to try to get back on her good side or suck up to her!”
As he said this, he turned to Angelica, sounding genuinely concerned. “It’s just not fair to you, Angelica.”
Angelica’s lips trembled, her eyes shining with tears. “Curtis, I didn’t expect you to care about my feelings. Thank you. I thought you were disappointed in me after last night.”
Curtis reached out and ruffled her hair. “You’re my sister. I’ve cared about you every single day for twenty years. There’s no way I’d ever be disappointed in you just because you didn’t outdo Victoria this time. Trust me, I’ll always be here for you.”
Angelica managed a smile through her tears. “Curtis, hearing you say that means everything to me. As long as I can stay and help the family, I don’t mind any hardship.”
Curtis gently wiped the tears from her eyes, reassuring her. “Angelica, you won’t have to deal with this for much longer. After today, Mom’s definitely dropped the idea of bringing Victoria back into the family.
“If Victoria really came back just to mess up our lives, Mom and Dad will figure out a way to handle her. They won’t let her win.”
Just then, Curtis’s phone rang. It was Simon calling.
He picked up, and Simon’s voice on the other end was serious.
“Curtis, have you checked X?” Simon asked.
“No, Mom dragged me out first thing this morning to apologize to that brat Victoria. Not only did she refuse to forgive me, but I came back even more annoyed!” Curtis grumbled to Simon.
Simon said, “Forget about that for now. The whole thing about you getting Leslie to mess with the evening gown has already blown up
online.
