He picked up, and Simon’s voice on the other end was serious.
“Curtis, have you checked X?” Simon asked.
“No, Mom dragged me out first thing this morning to apologize to that brat Victoria. Not only did she refuse to forgive me, but I came back even more annoyed!” Curtis grumbled to Simon.
Simon said, “Forget about that for now. The whole thing about you getting Leslie to mess with the evening gown has already blown up
online.

“Remember, don’t give Kitty anything she could use against you. Whatever it costs, as long as she’s willing to take all the blame, that’s fine. Just make sure this doesn’t touch you at all. You’ve just made it big; your reputation means everything,” Simon reminded him again.
Curtis’s brows furrowed. “Got it.”
After hanging up, Curtis quickly pulled up Twitter and searched the trending topics about himself.
Simon had already spent money to scrub most of them off the internet, but a few still popped up, though not many people were talking about them anymore.
[Is Curtis an idiot or what? Instead of compensating his real sister, he goes and frames her for the sake of his foster sister, just so his real sister gets publicly shamed at his own welcome party!]
[Exactly! You’d have to be brain–dead for a hundred years to pull something like that!]
[He even sets up his own sister? What kind of scummy celebrity does that? I really don’t get why anyone would support him. His fans are probably no better!]
[Sure, he’s got a decent face, but honestly, his music is just average. Even some internet singers are better than him!]
[Totally agree! His fans keep hyping him up as the most talented young singer these days. Makes me want to puke! He’s nowhere near those classic singers from twenty years ago, and he actually has the nerve to compare himself to the biggest stars back then? So shameless!]
[Did you guys see his sister’s live piano performance? It was incredible! I heard she improvised the whole thing. Her composing skills totally outshine Curtis, who thinks he’s all that!]
As Curtis scrolled through the comments, his face grew so dark it looked like thunderclouds were gathering over him.
Angelica turned to him, sounding worried. “Curtis, what’s wrong?”
Curtis put his phone away, his expression stormy. “The news about me having Kitty sabotage Victoria’s evening gown just got leaked online.”
Angelica gasped, acting worried. “Is it serious? Will this mess up your reputation and popularity? You just started to blow up.”
Curtis shook his head. “It’s fine. I’ll take care of it.”
Curtis’s gaze hardened. “This has Victoria written all over it. She really thinks she can just throw some cash around and ruin my reputation online? She has no clue how popular I am now. One little stunt like this is supposed to take me down? How naive. I’ll show her, no matter what tricks she pulls, it won’t work on me!”
He’d actually looked at Victoria in a new light last night, even thought about accepting her as his sister again.
But after what happened this morning, and now this leak, he was completely fed up with her all over again.

“If she can leak dirt on me, then I can totally expose her scandals, too. I’ve got money to burn. Digging up dirt on her is a breeze for me!” Curtis said.
“But Curtis, are we really sure Victoria’s the one behind this?” Angelica said uncertainly. “There were so many guests at the party last night.”
Curtis refused to listen, already convinced Victoria was behind the leak. “Who else would want to wreck my career? Unless someone wants to go up against the Binder family, nobody would do something this reckless. If I find out who did it, they’d better be ready to deal with the Binder family and me!”
Angelica pretended to think it over, then finally conceded, “I guess that makes sense.”
“If she’s got the guts to come at me, she’d better be ready to lose everything!” Curtis gripped his phone tight, his eyes cold and full of menace.
Angelica felt a surge of smug satisfaction. She’d secretly hired paid bots to fan the flames online, making sure Curtis’s scandals got even more traction.
All she wanted was to blow things up nd make the whole mess as big as possible.‘
She aimed to push Victoria completely onto the opposite side of Curtis.
So what if Victoria outshone her at the welcome party last night? Now that she’d pissed off Darell and the whole Binder family, life in the Binder household was only going to get tougher for her‘
Victoria might be just a little better at showing off her skills, but Angelica honestly couldn’t figure out where Victoria got the confidence to think she could actually bring down Darell and the entire Binder family.
Victoria finished sorting out the medicines and decided to head to the auction house in Benwig today to put them up for auction.
She had barely gotten into the car when Mara’s call came through.
“Boss, I dropped all the dirt on Curtis just like you wanted, but Simon was quick. He threw a pile of cash to cover it up,” Mara reported.
She filled Victoria in on the latest mission status.
Victoria had expected this and just smiled. “Let him spend all he wants covering it up. You keep pushing the
scandals online.”
When it came to buying online influence, Victoria knew she could outspend Simon any day.
Once she auctioned off these medicines, after saving some for the villagers to develop new ones, she’d have more than enough to give Curtis and Simon a hard time.
What she really wanted was to drive Curtis and Simon crazy with frustration over their own incompetence.
Mara understood right away–Victoria was breaking down Curtis and Simon’s confidence, bit by bit. When

they finally realized there was nothing they could do, they’d be left feeling completely helpless and defeated.
“The Binder family totally deserves it.
“They are so arrogant, never even seeing Victoria as a real threat, Mara thought.
“Yes, boss… By the way, turns out I’m not the only one throwing cash at paid trolls to trash Curtis online. I tracked the IP, and guess what? It’s Angelica,” Mara added.
“Typical. Angelica knows Curtis will definitely suspect me for leaking his dirt, so she’s just making a bigger mess to make him hate me even more,” Victoria said with a smirk.
‘Funny. I never expected Curtis to accept me anyway. Why would I care if he hates me?‘ Victoria thought, amused.
“Should we spill the beans to Curtis and Simon about what Angelica’s been doing?” Mara asked, sounding
curious.
“No rush,” Victoria replied coolly. “I don’t want them finding out what Angelica’s really like just yet. Let her keep backstabbing Curtis and Simon. Wait till they’ve lost everything and finally realize the foster sister they always protected was the one stabbing them in the back the whole time. That’s when things get really interesting.”
“Got it,” Mara replied, thinking to herself, ‘Man, when it comes to scheming, I’m just no match for the boss!‘
After hanging up with Mara, something crossed Victoria’s mind. Her lips curled into a sly smile as she dialed Simon’s number.
At Brightstar Entertainment, Simon hung up, slumped back in his office chair, and closed his eyes, rubbing his temples with his fingers.
Then his phone rang.
After a moment, he finally opened his eyes. Seeing the caller ID, his mood soured. He picked up, clearly not happy about it.
“Simon, did you pay to scrub the trending posts about Curtis messing with my evening gown?” Victoria asked, her voice laced with sarcasm.
Simon hadn’t been spoken to like that in ages, and he had to swallow his annoyance. “Yeah, I did. Curtis is my brother and one of Brightstar’s artists. Of course, I’d protect him. Why wouldn’t I?”
Victoria chuckled lightly. “But what can I say? I want Curtis’s reputation trashed so he can’t keep playing the idol singer. Are you sure you want to stick your nose in? Don’t forget, you’re still poisoned, and I’m the only one who can fix that.”
