Chapter 72
Victoria chuckled, fished out a tool from her pouch. “Alright, enough banter. Let’s get you treated. If you don’t get back on your feet soon, people outside will be gossiping about you nonstop. Today you can’t even get into your own company, tomorrow you might not even make it home.”
As she spoke, she crouched down and yanked up Jackson’s pant leg, then jabbed the tool right onto a pressure point around
his knee.
Jackson’s treatment took two hours, and Cassian showed up at Waterfront Villa right after that.
Cassian noticed the door was wide open, his brows furrowing as he walked over. The moment he reached the entrance, he saw Sibley collapsed next to the wine cabinet by the doorway.
Her eyes were shut tight, looking like she was on the verge of death. Her knees were mangled and covered in blood, with a pool of it spreading beneath her.
Cassian’s eyes flew wide open.
“Sibley…” Cassian called out, his voice shaky.
He was just about to crouch down and check on Sibley when a sudden kick slammed into his back, knocking him flat on the floor, face–first. Before he could even react, someone stomped hard on his back, keeping him down, unable to move.
Cassian struggled to lift his head, only to lock eyes with Jackson’s icy stare from inside.
“Jackson…what the hell are you doing? And Sibley…what happened to her? Did you actually hurt her?” Cassian’s voice was thick with disbelief.
After all, ever since he and Sibley were brought back to the Thornton family three years ago, Jackson had always treated them with nothing but kindness. He’d never even raised his voice at them.
Hurting them? That was unthinkable.
Jackson slowly rolled his wheelchair over. “I told you to come pick up Sibley right away, but you took your sweet time, two whole hours. What, did you really think I’d never actually hurt her?”
Cassian panicked and blurted out, “Jackson, it’s not what you think! There was an emergency at work, I had to handle it, that’s why I couldn’t get here sooner…”
But Jackson just curled his lips into a mocking smile. “Guess you really are swamped with work, huh?”
He gave a slight nod toward Ollie, who was still pinning Cassian down.
Without hesitation, Ollie raised his right foot and brought it down hard on Cassian’s head.
That heavy leather shoe came down like a ton of bricks, pressing down mercilessly on Cassian’s skull.
Once, twice, three times…
Each stomp landed with full force, and Cassian’s once–handsome face became distorted. His skin was scraped open, blood slowly oozing out and running down his cheek, quickly staining half his face red.
Only after Cassian’s face was a mess did Ollie finally lift his foot.
By now,

all the panic and fear were gone from Cassian’s face, replaced by utter disbelief and shock.

His eyes were wide, locked onto Jackson, the brother who used to dote on him. Cassian just couldn’t believe it: how could Jackson be so heartless, how could his own brother go so far as to do this to him?
Seeing Cassian’s stunned expression, Jackson sneered, “Shocked I’d actually do this to you? Don’t tell me you really don’t know why I’m teaching you a lesson?”
Cassian shook himself out of his shock, still bewildered. “If this is all because I couldn’t pick you up this morning, I swear, I really couldn’t get out of that meeting…”
“Looks like I was still too soft on you,” Jackson sighed with a resigned air.
The two bodyguards Cassian had sent to watch over Sibley burst in from outside and started beating the crap out of him, kicking and punching him all over the place, totally chaotic and relentless.
They kept it up for a full ten minutes, and Cassian was totally panicking now. He curled up on the floor, hugging his head, desperately begging, “Stop! Jackson, please tell them to stop! If they keep going, they’re gonna kill me… I’m begging you, make them stop!”
Only then did Jackson raise his hand, signaling the bodyguards to stop. “Do you realize what you did wrong?”
Once he was sure the bodyguards had stopped, Cassian slowly lifted his head. “Jackson, I messed up. Next time you come to the office, I swear I won’t leave you hanging. No matter what meeting I’m in or which client I’m seeing, I’ll drop everything and come pick you up right away.”
Jackson snickered and gestured with his hand. “You still don’t get it, huh? Go on, keep beating him.”
The bodyguards went righ
right back to pummeling Cassian, fists and boots flying.
After another ten minutes, Jackson finally called it off. He rolled his wheelchair over to Cassian, who was now swollen and bruised, blood streaming down his face, and leaned forward, staring down at him. “Let me tell you exactly where you went wrong.”
“After I lost the use of my legs, I only let you run the company for me as a temporary fix. But you actually started acting like you were the real boss. Cassian, tell me, what do you mean by ‘picking me up‘? Do I need you to play chauffeur for me in my own company? Who the hell do you think you are?”
Cassian said weakly, “Jackson, I messed up… I just wanted to take some of the load off your shoulders, so you could rest and heal at home… I never wanted to replace you, I swear…”
“Oh? That’s good. Because if you ever did, even if you’re my own brother, I wouldn’t show you any mercy.” After finishing with Cassian, Jackson wiped his hands clean. “I’ll be back at the office tomorrow. Cassian, before then, let go of everyone HR hired this past month on your orders. And don’t even think about using company money for severance. Handle it out of your own pocket. As for the people who didn’t quit on their own, you personally contact every single one and rehire them. If even one of them refuses, get ready for another round tomorrow.”
Cassian barely managed to say, “I get it, Jackson.”
Once he was done dealing with Cassian, Jackson slowly turned around, his gaze landing on Victoria, who was sitting comfortably on the couch, watching the chaos unfold with a relaxed, amused expression.
Victoria’s lips curled into a playful, almost teasing smile. “Last night at my welcome party, you got to watch my drama all night. Who would’ve thought today I’d get to watch yours? Honestly, this is pretty entertaining.”
Jackson couldn’t help but laugh, his voice ringing out. “That’s exactly why I asked you to come here for my treatment today, so you could catch a good show while working on my legs.”
Victoria shot him a mischievous look. “Jax, you’re just too considerate.”

Jackson grinned, wearing a proud, unashamed smile. “As long as you’re happy, Vicky, that’s all that matters.”

At that moment, Cassian was left sprawled beside Sibley, slumped against the wine cabinet, seething with resentment. His fists were clenched so hard his knuckles had gone pale.
‘Goddamn you, Jackson!‘ Cassian cursed to himself.
‘He’s beaten Sibley and me to a pulp, and now he’s over there flirting shamelessly with Victoria, like we don’t even exist!‘ he fumed.
“This humiliation. I’ll make him pay back a hundredfold!
Just wait!‘ he promised inside.

At Brightstar Entertainment, Curtis stormed into Simon’s office, his face dark with anger, and threw himself onto the couch.
“I’ve already settled things with Kitty. She’ll release a statement tonight, taking full responsibility for the dress fiasco,” Curtis said.
