Chapter 73
Simen looked up at Curtis, who was fuming, and nodded. “Remember, don’t transfer the compensation to Kitty through your own account. Don’t leave any evidence behind.”
“I know,” Curtis muttered.
Simon set down what he was working on and asked, “Since things with Kitty are taken care of, what are you still so upset about?”
“Who else would I be mad at? It’s Victoria, of course! I even started to change my opinion about her last night and handwrote a ridiculously long apology letter. But this morning, when Mom and I went to apologize, she didn’t even look at it, just threw it straight in the trash! And that’s not all. She’s been trashing me online, blowing up the whole evening gown drama. She’s such a great little sister, huh?” Curtis was so mad his teeth were practically rattling.
Simon’s eyes grew cold. “So, she’s really not going to forgive us?”
Curtis kicked his feet up on the coffee table and scoffed. “That’s right. Not only is she refusing to forgive us, but get this, I just found out she told Mom she came back to the Binder family just to destroy us, to make us taste what it’s like to have nothing! Can you believe how full of herself she is? Does she think we’re like those herbs she used to grow in the village, that she can wipe us out whenever she feels like it? She’s seriously overestimating herself!”
Thinking back to what Darell said last night, Simon’s eyes grew even colder.
Originally, he’d only planned to take out Victoria’s legs, so she’d be just right for Jackson, his way of getting revenge for her ruining his right leg.
But now, it was obvious things weren’t going to be that simple.
Since Victoria refused to forgive them and was hell–bent on going against the whole Binder family, Simon figured there was no reason to show any mercy to his little sister anymore.
“I’ve already got people digging up dirt on Victoria. There’s no way someone like her doesn’t have some skeletons in her closet. And if there aren’t any, I’ll just make some up myself!” Curtis said.
His words hung in the air.
Simon snapped out of his thoughts and nodded. “Yeah, I can’t go after her directly. Do whatever you want with her. I won’t interfere.”
Hearing that, Curtis was now certain Simon really had something Victoria was holding over him. “Relax, Simon. I don’t know what she’s got on you, but she can’t touch me. Just sit back and watch. I’ll make sure she learns her lesson!”
Just then, Simon’s secretary, Rachel, knocked on the door and walked in, carrying a stack of gardening tools. “Mr. Binder, I’ve got all the gardening tools you asked for. Is there anything missing or anything else you need?”
Simon’s face instantly darkened, and he snapped, “Who gave you permission to come in just because you knocked?”
The sudden outburst made Rachel jump, and she almost dropped the gardening tools all over the floor.
Only then did she notice Curtis was there too.
Curtis frowned, staring at the hoe tools in confusion. “Gardening tools? Who’s supposed to be gardening? And for whom?”
Remembering how agitated Simon had been just now, a wild thought flashed through Curtis’s mind. He turned to Simon, eyes wide in disbelief. “Simon, don’t tell me you’re actually going to help Victoria garden the ground?”

Simon’s face was mortified.
He really didn’t want to admit it, but even if he tried to deny it, he had no excuse to fall back on.
Curtis was speechless. “Simon, have you really sunk this low?”
Simon waved Rachel away. “Put the stuff down and get out.”
Rachel hurried out.
Once the door was closed again, Simon snapped, “You don’t know anything, so quit with the smart comments. Do you really think I want to embarrass myself like this?”
Curtis just couldn’t figure it out. “Simon, stop hiding it from me! What kind of dirt does that wild girl, Victoria, have on you that’s got you losing all your dignity? She wrecked your leg, and not only did you not get revenge, but you’re also basically at her beck and call. It’s just unbelievable. This isn’t like you at all!”
Simon’s face twisted with pain and helplessness. After a moment’s hesitation, he finally gave in. “She poisoned me?”
Curtis froze, his eyes going wide in disbelief. “Poisoned?”
Simon took a deep breath and said, “The worst part is, she’s the only one who can cure it. I’ve gone to every top doctor I could find, but they all said there’s nothing they can do.”
Simon’s face was as pale as a ghost, and he looked completely crushed. “So now you get why I have to do whatever she wants?”
Curtis clenched his teeth, his face twisted with anger. “I can’t believe that crazy girl Victoria is so ruthless! Simon, why didn’t you tell Grandpa? I bet he wouldn’t just let her get away with this!”
Simon gave a helpless, bitter smile. “You think I haven’t thought about it? But this poison is downright evil. If I don’t say I’ve been poisoned, no one can even tell, let alone figure out what kind of poison it is. Even if I told Grandpa and he had someone check me out, they wouldn’t find anything. He’d just think I’m accusing Victoria for no reason.”
Curtis saw how much Simon was suffering and clenched his fists in guilt. “This is all on me. If I hadn’t asked you to help Angelica put Victoria in her place, you wouldn’t have ended up getting poisoned by her. I promise, I’ll make sure to find a way to cure you!”
Simon gradually calmed down. “Mr. Rich from the auction said he knows a doctor, but he doesn’t have her contact info. The only chance to reach her is when she shows up at the auction. If you really want to help, keep an eye out at the auction and see if you can spot her. As for me, I’m thinking of hiring a pro thief to sneak into Victoria’s room and see if there’s any antidote lying around.”
Curtis nodded firmly. “Got it. If push comes to shove, I’ll make her cough up the antidote, even if I have to get rough There’s no way she’s not scared of dying!”
Simon warned him seriously, “Don’t do anything reckless. I only got poisoned because I underestimated her. She’s seriously messed up. She slipped poison to me and my bodyguards without us even realizing it. We didn’t even know when it happened. Don’t let yourself end up in her hands and get blackmailed too.”
Seeing Simon right there as a living example, Curtis thought twice about using force. He didn’t want to wind up in the same mess as his brother.
Curtis sighed, “Fine.”
“Oh, and one more thing.” Simon said, pausing for a moment before deciding to let Curtis in on it. “Since you’re already digging up dirt on Victoria, also check if anyone tried to mess with her before she came back to the Binder family.

He still remembered Victoria mentioning that Angelica had paid someone to go after her. Even though he didn’t really believe Angelica could be that malicious, he figured he should look into it, just to confirm his suspicions.
