Chapter 74
Hearing Simon’s instructions, Curtis felt something was definitely up and asked, “Did Victoria tell you something?”
Simon didn’t bother explaining. “Just go check it out. If nobody ever tried to hurt Victoria, just drop it. If someone did, you’ll
get it.”
Curtis pouted. “Alright.”
‘Simon always loves keeping things under wraps!‘ Curtis thought.
Just then, Simon’s phone rang on the table. He checked the name on the screen.
“It’s a call from Angelica,” he said.
He picked up the phone, and Angelica’s gentle voice came through.
“Simon, remember I told you I know a writer who’s on the same site as the famous author Viara? I’m chatting with him right now, and he said he could try to set up a meeting with Viara for us,” Angelica said.
Finally, after days of nothing but bad news, this was the first piece of good news Simon had heard.
Simon asked eagerly, “Did your writer friend say when he could arrange the meeting?”
“Not yet…” Angelica replied.
Simon pressed, “Let your friend know, if he can get Viara to meet me, I’ll pay him 150,000 dollars.”
“Simon, my friend isn’t doing this for the money, but I’ll pass your offer along. I’ll let you get back to work,” Angelica said.
“Alright,” Simon replied.
After hanging up, Simon let out a long sigh of relief.
Curtis noticed Simon, who had been all serious and unsmiling just moments ago, finally looking a bit more relaxed. “Angelica said she was meeting that writer who knows Viara today. You seem pretty happy. Guess things are looking up for her?”
Simon nodded slightly. “It’s not good news yet, but at least there’s hope. If I can meet Viara ahead of time, it’ll give me a much better shot at securing the rights when the time comes.”
Curtis’s face softened with relief. “No matter what, Angelica’s always been working hard to help us out and stay with the Binder family. No matter how talented Victoria is or how much she tries to threaten us, we owe it to Angelica not to let her down.”
Simon’s eyes were unwavering. “Don’t worry. Just like you, I’ve always treated Angelica as my own sister. That’s never going to change.”
After hanging up, Angelica looked at the handsome, refined man sitting across from her. She tucked a strand of hair behind her car and gave him a gentle smile. “My brother said if you can get Viara to meet me, he’ll give you 150,000 dollars as a reward. This really matters to me, Eric. You can pull it off, right?”
Eric didn’t even blink at the mention of 150,000 dollars. He just smiled. “You know I’m not doing this for the money.

Angelica stirred her coffee, catching his hint but choosing not to respond directly. She just smiled and said, “Thanks, Eric. Will three days be enough?”
Eric might be handsome, but at the end of the day, he was just a popular webnovel author. Compared to Jackson, the privileged heir of a powerful family, Eric was nowhere near his level.
Angelica’d already let go of Jackson, so there was no way she’d ever see Eric as anything more than a friend.
Eric didn’t press her for a response. With his usual calm, he nodded. “No problem. If things go smoothly, I’ll get back to you tonight.”
Angelica winked and smiled. “Thanks, Eric. I’ll be waiting for your good news.”
She picked up her cup and took a gentle sip of coffee.
If she could help Simon secure the rights to Viara’s final novel, help Brightstar Entertainment achieve real success, and help him earn Calvin’s recognition, Simon would treat her like a treasure. He’d spoil her rotten.
So what if she’d lost a talent competition to Victoria? Compared to the support she could give Simon in his career, that was no big deal.

“Stay for lunch with me later?” Jackson asked Victoria after letting Cassian and Sibley leave Waterfront Villa.
Victoria nodded. “Of course, I’m up for lunch together. But you mean right here?”
She looked around the room. “Just the three of us, so who’s cooking, you or me? Or are we making Ollie do it?”
Ollie hurriedly waved his hands. “Hey, I only know how to fight and work, not cook.”
“Relax, I won’t make you do anything,” Jackson said, dialing up the family’s five–star chef to come over and whip up a meal for them.
Victoria couldn’t help but sigh, “Jax, you really know how to enjoy life!”
Honestly, the Thornton family’s private chef was incredible. Victoria enjoyed the meal to the fullest.
After finishing her meal, Victoria leaned back on the couch, rubbing her belly in satisfaction. “If I ate like this every day, I’d definitely put on twenty pounds.”
Jackson glanced at her slender arms and legs. “Don’t worry, you’ve still got plenty of room to fill out.”
Victoria sat up straight and looked at him. “How do you manage to hold back and not eat more?”
Jackson replied honestly, “Since my legs aren’t really up for working out anymore, I have to be extra careful with my diet to stay in shape. Otherwise, what if you end up dumping me after we get married?”
Victoria’s eyes sparkled with interest. “Oh? So you’re saying you’ve got a killer body right now?”
Jackson didn’t bother being modest. “I think I barely make the cut for your standards.”
Victoria raised an eyebrow. “I don’t buy it. Show me, and then I’ll believe it.”
Ollie, still in the room, asked, “Should I get lost?”

Jackson nodded, smiling gently. “Feel free to get lost.”
Ollie was speechless.
‘How can Mr. Jackson sound so sweet while saying something so savage?‘ Ollie thought.
No wonder people say guys totally lose it when they’re in love!‘ Ollie grumbled to himself.
Even Mr. Jackson can’t escape it!‘ Ollie thought.
So Ollie quietly slipped out of the room and waited outside.

Victoria couldn’t help but laugh at herself. ‘Seriously, I’ve spent days just grabbing at Jackson’s pant legs. How did I never think to go for his shirt instead?‘
‘Such a fail!‘ she thought.
Victoria stood up from the couch, rubbing her hands together with a mischievous grin. “Alright, Jax, I’m not holding back
now-.”
Even she had to admit, her voice sounded a little shameless, almost too cheeky.
‘Whatever, who cares!
‘With a hottie like him right in front of me, who needs to keep up appearances?‘ she thought.
Jackson played along, spreading his arms wide. “Go ahead.”
Victoria walked up to Jackson, bent down, and with nimble fingers, started unbuttoning his white shirt, one button at a time.
Honestly, this scene looked like it was about to turn into something way too spicy for kids.
But seriously, Victoria was just curious to see Jackson’s body, nothing more, nothing less.
As each button came undone, Jackson’s chest and abs slowly came into view.
Victoria’s bright, starry eyes curved with a playful, sly glint. “Not bad, not bad at all! Guess I’m pretty lucky to have you!”
Jackson couldn’t help but laugh. “As long as I didn’t disappoint you, Victoria.”
After checking him out, Victoria buttoned his shirt back up. The collar had been left open with two buttons, but she made sure to fasten every single one, just to be extra thorough.
“Better keep it all buttoned up. No other woman gets a peek but me,” she teased.
After all the teasing, Victoria flopped back onto the couch, looking smug and totally pleased with herself, like she’d just scored a big win. Right then, her phone started ringing.
She glanced at the caller ID. It was Eric, Stephan Cooke’s son, their neighbor from Mullinran Village.
Eric had ignored the huge family business Stephan had in Benwig and went off to write webnovels instead.
Guess he’s just as impulsive as Stephan, who randomly decided to move to Mullinran Village and start a whole new life.
Thinking about it, Eric was actually the one who introduced her to the world of webnovels. But since he spent most of his time in Benwig, they didn’t keep in touch much. She had no clue why he was suddenly calling her today.
