“Eric, what’s up?” Victoria asked, getting straight to the point.

Eric cleared his throat and explained seriously, “Here’s the thing. I have a friend whose family owns an entertainment company. They’re interested in buying the rights to your latest novel, Chasing the Dream. I was wondering if you’re free in the next couple of days so we can meet up and discuss the details. If it’s convenient, I can come pick you up from Mullin can Village.”
Victoria teased, “A friend? Eric, I bet it’s not just any friend, right? Otherwise, why would you go out of your way to contact
me?”
Eric coughed awkwardly. “Just tell me if you’re free or not.”
Victoria couldn’t help but tease him again, “Eric, you really are so focused on your writing, you barely notice what’s going on around you. I’m not in Mullinran Village anymore. I’m in Benwig now.“.
Eric was clearly surprised. “You moved to Benwig? That’s great! Let’s find a place here and have a proper chat.”
Victoria agreed without hesitation, “Sure, let’s do it tomorrow at noon.”
Eric quickly replied, “No problem. I’ll pick the spot and send you the details tonight.”
After hanging up, Victoria met Jackson’s curious gaze and said, “That was Eric, Stephan’s son from the village who always looked out for me. He asked me to meet his friend tomorrow at noon to discuss the copyright for my novel.”
“You write novels and even sold the rights?” Jackson’s admiration for her grew even more.
Victoria replied, “Yeah, I just wrote a few in my free time.”
Jackson’s face was full of open admiration. “You just wrote a few and managed to sell the rights? That’s impressive. What’s your pen name? I want to check out your novels.”
Victoria’s lips curled into a faint smile as she softly said, “Viara.”
Jackson paused for a moment, a little surprised. “I don’t really read novels, but I’ve definitely heard of Viara before.”
Victoria’s curiosity was sparked, and she arched an eyebrow. “Oh?”
Jackson let out a wry smile. “Actually, it was Sibley who brought it up. Someone online even suggested me by name to play the male lead in one of Viara’s novels.”
Victoria clapped her hands in excitement. “You know what? The male lead in one of my books really fits you. It’s a shame you’re not an actor. What a waste of your looks and charisma.”
Jackson had zero interest in getting into showbiz, so he didn’t dwell on it and got back to the main topic. “Can I come with you tomorrow?”
Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Why? Are you staking your claim? Don’t read too much into it. Eric and I are just friends, and he probably just wants my help because he’s got his eye on some girl.”
Jackson was secretly pleased that she was worried he might get jealous and explained himself. “As your fiancé, it’s good for me to get to know your friends, so I’ll know who to invite and how to welcome them when we throw our engagement party.”
Hearing that, Victoria thought it made sense and didn’t object. “Alright, you can come with me to meet Eric tomorrow at
noon.”

Chapter 75
Victoria yawned, got up slowly, and stretched with lazy case. “Alright, the show’s over for today, treatment’s done, and I’ve had a good meal. Time for a nap.”
Turning to Jackson, she asked casually, “So, what’s your plan for this afternoon?”
Jackson’s smile was gentle. “I’m going to work on the preparations for our engagement party. It’s next Saturday, and Grandpa said he’d make it really grand, but since it’s our engagement, it’s really special to me. I want to make sure everything’s just right, so it’ll be a memory you’ll cherish forever.”
Victoria thought for a moment. “Need me to help? Like picking out decorations or helping with the guest list?”
Jackson replied softly, “No need. Just send me your guest list. If you want anything special, just let me know. Leave the rest to
me.”
Victoria stretched lazily. “Alright, I’m not really into planning these things anyway. So, I’ll leave the engagement party to you.”
Jackson said seriously, “Victoria, I promise this engagement party will make you the center of attention, someone everyone envies, not someone people gossip about, saying the true Binder heiress had to take Angelica’s place and marry a guy like
me.”
By the time Victoria got back to the Binder residence, it was already four in the afternoon. She’d planned to squeeze in an afternoon nap, then wake up just in time for dinner.
All in all, it had been a pretty full day.
But who would’ve thought that just as she reached the entrance of Goldenwood Villa, she heard raised voices coming from outside the gate.
“Sir, Madam, I’ve already told you Miss Victoria isn’t home. If you need to see her, please wait until Mr. Binder and Mrs. Binder return,” the maid said.
“Wait for them? By then, how are we supposed to teach that wild girl a lesson? Is that damn girl hiding inside, too scared to come out?” Julia snapped.
Victoria squinted, spotting Julia again. ‘Ugh, her again, she thought, feeling a twinge of annoyance.
This time, Darell himself had come, bringing a bunch of bodyguards with him. They were facing off with the villa’s security, tension practically crackling in the air.
‘So they’re here to make me pay for what happened this morning,‘ Victoria guessed, staying calm as ever.
She smirked and strolled over. “Uncle Darell, Aunt Julia, what brings you back again? Aunt Julia, I get that you’ve got nothing better to do, but Uncle Darell, you too? If you’re done pretending to run the Binder family’s pharmaceutical company, maybe it’s time to just retire and take it easy.”
Hearing Victoria’s voice, the maid blocking Darell and Julia was startled and shot her a look, urging her, “Miss Victoria, Mr. Binder and Mrs. Binder aren’t home right now. Please hurry inside and don’t bother arguing with them.”
Darell and Julia stormed in, clearly looking for trouble. There was no way they had good intentions.
With only Victoria here, she didn’t stand a chance against them by herself!
Darell spun around, fixing his glare on Victoria, his defiant, troublemaker daughter.

“Victoria, you really are something, aren’t you! First thing you do when you get back is pick on your brother, and now you even go after your own mother! What’s next, huh? Are you planning to take me down, too?” Darell fumed.
When Julia called him in tears, pouring out all the drama Victoria stirred up that morning, he finally snapped. He’d been fec up with Victoria always making him look bad, and this was the last straw. Without hesitation, he stormed out of the office, dragged Julia along, and headed straight to Goldenwood Villa to confront Victoria.
Victoria walked over and said, dead serious, “Uncle Darell, let’s be clear. I’m not your daughter, you’re not my father, and she’s definitely not my mother. Honestly, I’m sick of having to remind you every time.”
Darell glared at her, his tone icy. “So you’re really set on not forgiving us, huh? And that thing you told your mother about taking everything from our family and leaving us with nothing, so you weren’t just bluffing after all?”
Victoria snorted with a laugh. “So you came all the way here just to find out if I meant it?”
