Chapter 77
“Curtis deserved to be beaten!” Daisy’s cold, resolute voice cut through the tension.
She strode right up to Victoria, shielding her, then looked straight at Calvin, not backing down an inch. “I’ll say it right in front of you.
“Curtis said those things, and he totally had it coming. He deserved every punch. Hell, he could’ve been beaten to death for all I care. He’s nothing but a beast!”
She swept her gaze over Darell and Julia, her voice icy. “And you two, Darell and Julia, are just as bad. With parents like you, no wonder Curtis turned out rotten. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
“You even took advantage of Hector and me not being home to come to my house and mess with Victoria. You’re not just her parents by blood; even as elders in any family, your behavior is downright shameless.”
Julia was furious at Daisy’s insults. “Shut your filthy mouth. You’re the one who’s lower than an animal! No, scratch that– you’re just a beast, a useless hen that can’t even lay eggs!”
She turned to Calvin, tears streaming down her face, pleading her case. “Calvin, you see? I wasn’t wrong earlier. Daisy is really making us enemies just for Victoria. She claims Curtis deserved a beating for saying something rude, but you heard how vicious her own words were just now.
“And besides, we’re all family. Does saying a few nasty things mean you can just go around hitting people? So does that mean I get to hit her now too…”
Calvin cut her off sternly. “Enough! If you keep this up, my headache’s going to flare up!”
Julia fell silent.
Calvin finally got the gist of what happened. “So, let me get this straight. You went to Victoria, hoping she’d forgive you, but when she refused, you got mad and started hurling insults at her, right?”
Julia could tell Calvin was about to take sides again, so she quickly protested. “Are you saying that apologizing to Victoria was somehow wrong? Aren’t we all family? Shouldn’t we be getting along?”
Victoria scoffed, her tone icy. “Family? Please, that’s gross. The only people I call family are Mom, Dad, and Grandpa. I only call you ‘Mrs. Binder‘ just to annoy you. Honestly, you’re nothing but a brainless fool.
“No wonder Angelica’s mom picked you as her mark. Anyone could see you’re an easy target. You let your daughter live it up for years, and now she’s rotting in jail. Serves you right!”
Julia was so furious she felt her blood boiling. “You…”
Calvin couldn’t stand it anymore. “Darell, you already signed the papers to sever ties with Victoria. Can’t you and your just stop causing trouble?”
Darell stayed silent.
wife
“What, you saw how outstanding Victoria was last night and now you’re full of regret? Want her back in the family? You think life just hands you second chances like that? You’ve been around long enough. How can you still be so naive?” Calvin slammed his cane hard against the floor.
Darell kept his face grim and said nothing.
But Julia couldn’t hold back anymore. “Calvin…”

Calvin cut her off before she could say another word. “Enough, Julia. The only thing you said that made any sense is that we’re all family. Are you really going to fight to the death over this?
“If you really want to make a scene, wait until I’m gone. Then do whatever you want. But for now, you’d better behave! Otherwise, I’ll write a will and leave all the Binder family assets to Daisy. You two won’t get a single cent.”
That was enough to silence Julia completely.
Calvin waved his hand, looking exhausted. “I’m making the call today. That’s it. Let’s settle it here, okay?”
Darell finally spoke up. “Got it, Dad. We’ll do as you say.”
This time, it was Julia’s turn to stay silent.
Daisy glanced at Victoria, knowing she must be boiling inside. “Victoria, it’s your call. If you want to let it go, we’ll let it go. If you don’t, then we won’t.”
Julia protested anxiously, “Daisy, we’re the ones who got screwed today! Why shouldn’t she let it go?”
Victoria said bluntly, “You hit Zoe.”
“Seriously?” Julia scoffed, almost laughing from anger. “She’s just a maid. I’ve been suffering all day because of you and haven’t even said a word! You really think a maid getting hurt is worse than what I’ve been through?”
Zoe was stunned for a second, then her eyes welled up with tears. ‘Victoria is so kind. She’s actually standing up for me, Zoe thought.
Victoria sneered, “Even a maid knows how to protect me, but you–so cold–blooded and selfish–you don’t even care. Why would I ever care if you got hurt?”
Julia was left speechless.
Calvin glanced at Zoe, lost in thought, then let out a weary sigh. “It’s truly heartbreaking… Such a shame.”
He shook his head. “Darell, if you two hadn’t made such a fuss and just accepted Victoria back into the family, none of this would have happened. As for Angelica, she’s already twenty and you’ve raised her so well.
“Do you really think she can’t make it on her own without the Binder family? If things really got bad, break off her engagement with Jackson and arrange another marriage for her. Was it really necessary for things to get this messy?”
Darell stayed silent for a while, his face icy as he shot Victoria a warning look from behind Daisy. “So, what are you planning to do?”
Once Zoe was steady on her feet, Victoria let go of her, pulled Daisy aside, and strode right up to Darell.
“With Grandpa watching, I’ll settle this the old–fashioned way–an eye for an eye,” Victoria said.
Before anyone could react, she swung her leg and landed a solid kick on Darell.
Julia was scared out of her wits by what just happened.
When she finally came to her senses and saw her husband sprawled on the floor, her eyes looked like they were about to burst from her skull.
“Victoria!” Julia shrieked. “Are you out of your mind? Just for a maid, you actually kicked your own father!”

Darell was helped to his feet by his bodyguards. He clutched his stomach where Victoria had kicked him, still feeling the dull ache.
‘What a disgrace!‘ Darell thought. ‘This is the biggest humiliation I’ve ever suffered in my whole life.
And to make it worse, it was my own flesh and blood who did this to me!’
Calvin was taken aback. He looked at Victoria, a bit helpless. “Victoria, maybe you went a little overboard. Even if you wanted to defend Zoe, there were other ways you could’ve handled it.”
Victoria shook her head. “Grandpa, only an eye for an eye counts as real payback. Anything else is just compromise.”
Calvin started to say something, but stopped himself.
He wasn’t trying to criticize Victoria. He just worried that her fierceness might invite trouble.
Julia kept staring at Calvin, waiting to see if he’d do anything about her husband getting kicked. But all he did was toss Victoria a half–hearted comment–not even a real scolding. That was it. Julia was absolutely fuming.
