Chapter 90
Before Victoria could say anything, Daisy quickly added, “Victoria, don’t think about this for now. We’ll talk about it after you’ve recovered.”
Victoria could tell Daisy was worried about her, so she just nodded. “Okay.”
“Just get some rest. I’ll call you when Zoe brings your food,” Daisy said gently.
“Okay,” Victoria replied.
Daisy helped Victoria lie back down, making sure she was comfortable under the covers. As Daisy sat back, watching Victoria close her eyes–her face ghostly pale–Daisy quietly wiped away a lear
She’d come so close to losing Victoria, her precious child.
Thank goodness Victoria was safe. Daisy couldn’t even imagine the pain of having to bury her own daughter.
After a long moment, Daisy finally let out a sigh of relief and quietly left the room.
Just then, Hector stepped out of the room next door.
Their
eyes met, and without a word, they walked together toward the end of the hallway.
Standing by the window, Daisy asked, “How’s Jackson doing?”
“He’s fine. His assistant said it’s just a mild concussion and some scrapes,” Hector replied with a sigh. “Poor kid, after everything that’s happened, the only one who’s come to see him is Gerry. His dad and his siblings haven’t even bothered to show up.”
“Well, at least Jackson’s okay,” Daisy said, worry still etched on her face. “Hector, after that crash, Curtis’s fate is still up in the air. Darell and Julia won’t let this slide. They’re definitely going to make Victoria pay.”
Hector wrapped his arm around her. “As long as Victoria didn’t mean for it to happen, no matter how much they kick up a fuss, it won’t change a thing. I’m not letting them lay a finger on her ever again.”
Daisy lowered her eyes, her voice full of worry. “But what if she really did mean to do it?”
She hesitated, then said quietly, “When I told Victoria that the car she hit belonged to Curtis, she didn’t look as surprised as I thought she would. It was almost like she’d seen it coming.”
Hector’s hand on Daisy’s shoulder stiffened. “So, what are you thinking?”
Daisy was quiet for a moment, then her gaze hardened with determination.

Through tears, Angelica explained how she’d taken Simon and Curtis to meet Viera, recounting the whole story to julia and Darell,

As Angelica finished her story, Julia’s eyes were full of hate,
Victoria! It’s her again. It has to be her, no question. She did this on purpose. She wants Curris dead, and she won’t stop until our whole family is gone,” Julia spat. “If Curtis never wakes up, 1 swear I’ll make her pay with blood.”
As Julia spat out those vicious words, a smug, self–satisfied smile appeared in Angelica’s eyes.
This time, there’s no way Victoria’s walking away unscathed, Angelica thought.
Right as she was thinking that, Angelica’s phone started ringing.
She dropped her hands from her face, took out her phone, and when she saw the caller ID, her face shifted. She immediately cut the call.

As soon as she got the chance to slip out of the hospital room, Angelica made her way out of the inpatient wing and found a quiet, deserted corner of the garden. She pulled out her phone and called back the number that had just tried to reach her.
“Didn’t I tell you not to call me unless it’s an emergency?” Angelica snapped as soon as the call connected.
“But this really is an emergency. That’s why I called,” the middle–aged man replied, sounding almost innocent.
Angelica took a deep breath. “What’s going on?”
“So, here’s the thing. I’ve noticed someone’s been poking around about that job you had me hire people for, the one targeting the real Binder heiress,” the middle–aged man said, sounding a bit
nervous.
“What?” Angelica was startled, but quickly regained her composure. “Did Victoria send someone to investigate?”
“At first, I thought it was that wild brat, but after keeping an eye on things for a couple days, it doesn’t seem like her. If I’m right, looks like Curtis is the one investigating,” the man replied.
