**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 108**
**CONTENT: Chapter 108**
I had reached a point where I desperately wished to banish thoughts of Damien from my mind, along with the memories of my former life that lingered here like ghosts. My determination was clear: I was ready to immerse myself in work, to lose myself in the tasks ahead and leave behind the chaos of my past.
However, as soon as we stepped through the entrance, reality crashed back in. Claire and Victoria were stationed in the waiting room, their presence a stark reminder of the very life I sought to escape. My initial plan had been to glide past them, to ignore their existence entirely. But Claire, it seemed, had other intentions. She rose from her seat, her posture radiating a mix of confidence and confrontation as she made her way toward me.
“Amelia, I need to speak with you, woman to woman,” she declared, her tone both assertive and condescending.
Eve shot me a glance filled with curiosity, her eyebrows raised in silent inquiry. With a casual shrug, she said, “I’ll head on ahead. Just catch up with me when you can.”
Behind me, Cara remained steadfast, her loyalty unwavering even as Claire shot her a glare that could have frozen fire.
I turned slightly, catching Cara’s eye. “It’s alright,” I reassured her. After all, Claire was merely seeking a conversation. In a public space like this, there was little she could do to me without a multitude of witnesses—and the ever-watchful eyes of security cameras capturing everything.
Cara hesitated but eventually took a few steps back, though she lingered close enough to leap to my aid if the situation escalated.
Focusing back on Claire, I asked, my voice blunt and unyielding, “What is it that you want?”
“I know you’re here under some kind of pretense,” Claire replied, her voice dripping with disdain. “This charade won’t work on me, and it certainly won’t work on Damien.”
“What exactly do you think I’m doing?” I countered, my curiosity piqued by her accusations.
“You’re no healer, that much is clear,” Claire asserted, her eyes narrowing. “Whatever trivial knowledge you think you’ve acquired in the human world has no relevance here in our werewolf realm. You shouldn’t even be here.”
I regarded her with a level gaze, unimpressed. Her words were nothing new; I had heard similar sentiments echo through the halls of my past. I refused to let her disbelief and her irrational fear of human medicine deter me from my mission to genuinely help her brother.
