Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 160

Chapter 160

Another growl sounded from somewhere behind me. This time, it had to be from Jake.

Damien placed his hand on my hip in warning, but I wasn’t about to back down.

“I am a witch!” I declared. “And soon, I will have everyone under my spell!”

The crowd gasped. Well, so much for convincing the crowd to take my side. But that was fine, if they were afraid of me, if they thought I was a real witch, then maybe they would indeed blame me for everything while letting Damien and Jake off the hook.

On the journey here, without telling Jake, I had tried to think of the best, most peaceful way to resolve this issue of treason and running away. The only way I could think to keep Damien and Jake from being blamed was to take the full responsibility onto myself.

As they were Alphas, they wouldn’t be so easily coerced, so for the con to work, I had to pretend to be a strong witch.

I knew nothing about witches other than what I’d seen on television and in movies. I didn’t even have a hat or a magic broom. As far as witches went, I felt utterly and completely lacking. Yet, still I hoped the con was working. This was truly the only play I had open to myself.

The Alpha King watched me for a moment, then slowly stepped down from his throne. As he came closer, I felt a familiar tug, like I could trust him.

How could that be, though, when the man very nearly had my mafe killed?

As he came nearer, under his breath, he cursed, “What manner of trickery is this? Is she truly a witch? Have I… too

fallen under her spell?”

Damien tensed, his fingers curling tighter around my hipbone.

The Alpha King stopped, three yards away from me. He looked at me for a long moment, and then turned to one of his guards. “Escort her into one of the interrogation rooms. I wish to speak with her privately, to learn for myself what manner of witchcraft this is.”

The guards started moving closer. There were many this time, and they seemed set on breaking Damien and me apart.

I turned to him.

“I have to go, Damien. You have to let them take me,” I said.

“You can’t ask that of me,” he growled.

I lifted a hand and placed it over his heart. “It’s the only thing that might save you,” I said.

“And what about you?”

“Damien, please.”

“Please, nothing,” Damien said, his voice rough.

Suddenly he moved. Both hands found my hips and he tugged me against him. No sooner had I hit the hard wall of

his chest, then he lowered his mouth to claim my lips with his.

I gasped in surprised, and he used that opening to lick his way into my mouth.
