Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 183

Chapter 183

Amelia’s POV

That evening, Jake and his parents left to go to one of the events the night before the Alpha Ball. Jake had been worried about leaving me, but I promised him I was just going to watch some television and go to bed. Finally, he agreed, but only with Cara agreeing to watch the doors, and another bodyguard hanging out in one of the rooms, ready to come save me if I screamed.

I really didn’t know what he had expected to happen, but I also didn’t want to think too hard about it. Truthfully, a lot had happened already. I didn’t want this trip to be one more traumatic experience.

It was supposed to be something fun and relaxing… just in case the worst should happen when my baby was ready to come into the world…

I didn’t want to die, but I felt a strange sort of peace about all of this. I was going to fight like hell in the delivery to make sure that I survived the birth, but if I had to give up my life to ensure my daughter survived, then so be it. That was a sacrifice that I was willing to make.

At this point, there wasn’t much else I could do but wait for the moment to see what would happen. I’d taken all the injections, I was as strong as I could be. Relaxing and enjoying myself here could help in the long run.

I just needed to relax. I wanted to.

But I’d been having some trouble ever since I locked eyes with Damien this morning.

Before I left his back, when things felt like a different world, a different life, I had envisioned us raising our child together. I never would have thought that he wouldn’t be at the birth.

Or that he would try to kill me…

Gods, how had things come to this?

There was a knock on the front door that startled me. Cara was out there, so I assumed she would take care of things. But a second stern knock drew my attention again and I walked over to it. Opening it, I saw Cara facing me. Behind her stood Sienna.

“Sienna is asking to speak with you,” Cara said. “Normally, I would send her away, but as she is still the Alpha’s sister, I find I am obligated to ask if you wish to speak with her.”

“It’s urgent, Amelia,” Sienna said. “I know we don’t get along, but I’m hoping we can come together on this. I know we both want what’s best for my family.”

Cara turned to glare at her. “She insists on speaking to you alone.

If I didn’t take any food or drink from Sienna, I didn’t see the harm in talking to her, even privately. Besides, with Cara just outside the front door and the other bodyguard in the other room, I didn’t see how Sienna could possibly try to attack me or anything. She wouldn’t get very far.

Sienna could be conniving, but she wasn’t stupid. And she wasn’t suicidal.

She didn’t come here for a murder-suicide.

“Very well,” I said. “I’ll talk to her. But just for a few minutes.”

Cara’s frown deepened. It was clear she wanted me to say no. Maybe I would have in the past, but I felt safe here, like this, with so many protectors around me.

Sienna nodded, looking relieved.

Cara couldn’t do anything but step back and allow Sienna to pass. I showed Sienna to the couch in the living room area of the large hotel room. She chose to stand, but with my ankles so swollen that my feet hurt, I sat.

“Please,” I said. “Tell me what’s going on.”

Sienna worried her hands together, her expression strained. I hadn’t noticed so much in the hallway outside but now that she was here under the light, I could see how worried she was.

“I overheard something, and I…” She stopped, took a steadying breath, and restarted. “I know we haven’t gotten along. I know that I’ve done things that could have hurt you, and I’m glad they didn’t, truly. But this… I could have never fathomed someone would try something like this.”

“What is it? What’s happened?”

“I overheard something. They didn’t know I heard, but I did. They want to hurt you, Amelia. They are talking about putting a bomb in the building.”

“What?”

my eyes went wide. “Sienna, you have to tell the police.”

She shushed me, looking around nervously. “I don’t know who is in on it. The person I saw saying it was wearing a security uniform. Sienna, I think this whole place might be against you. They want you dead, and they don’t care about collateral damage.”

I already moved to stand back up. “We have to move. I’ll call Jake and we’ll leave at once.”

“No, you can’t do that,” Sienna said. “You can’t tell him. He’ll want to fight them and it will only make everything worse.”

“Well, what can I do? I can’t just sit here and let it happen.”

“They said they wouldn’t detonate until tomorrow night during the Alpha Ball. If they know you are trying to move, they might make it detonate sooner.”

“Sienna. I can’t just -”

“You have to sneak out, Amelia. Don’t let Jake or the others know you are going. I’ll get you to a safe location.”

“We have to tell Jake.”

“We can’t. We don’t want him to get hurt. At least, I don’t. Do you?”

“N-no,” I said quickly. My pregnancy hormones sprung tears to my eyes. Did she think I would want someone hurt who had been so kind to me? Or that I would want anyone hurt for that matter.

“Then go with this plan,” Sienna said. “Once you are safe, then we can send for Mom and Dad and Jake.”

I looked at her for a moment. “Sienna. Why would you want to help me?”

“Because Jake loves you, and I love Jake,” Sienna said. “I don’t trust you, but that’s enough for me. For now.”

I didn’t know if I could believe that. Everything about this felt… off somehow. Sienna had lied to me before, had been nice to me before just to stab me in the back.

She could be doing that again.

“What you want me to do is a big step,” I said. “Why should I trust you?”

Sienna sighed. “Gods, I was hoping you would just listen for once. I didn’t want to scare you more than I had to. Here.” She dug her phone out of her pocket and then turned it to me.
