**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 35**
**Victoria POV**
As Damien pivoted to address the remaining members of the search party, signaling their dismissal, Claire and I wasted no time in trailing after Ethan.
“Stupid, stupid Amelia,” Claire muttered under her breath, urgency lacing her words as we hurried along.
“She’s a liability as long as she’s in the picture. We have to eliminate her as a threat,” I replied, my heart pounding with the intensity of the situation.
We intercepted Ethan just as he approached the Alpha’s sleek car, its polished surface gleaming ominously under the fading light.
“Make sure Damien and Amelia never, ever cross paths again,” I insisted, my voice low but firm. “Do you understand me?”
Ethan raised a hand, halting my fervent plea. “Victoria,” he said, his tone softening, “you’re my mate, and I love you dearly. But you need to tread carefully. This isn’t safe for you,” he cautioned, his eyes reflecting a mix of concern and resolve. “I won’t betray my Alpha any more than I already have.”
He fell silent, the weight of his words hanging in the air like a dark cloud, before sliding into the car and driving it toward where Damien waited, his posture tense and ready.
“Useless,” Claire scoffed, folding her arms and pouting her lips in frustration. “My brother has always had that cowardly streak. It’s infuriating!”
“I suppose it’s up to us to take matters into our own hands,” I replied, my gaze fixed on Damien as he settled into the driver’s seat. Time was of the essence; we had to act quickly before he reached Alpha Jake’s territory.
“Doesn’t Jake have a sister? What’s her name again? Cierra, Savannah?” Claire mused, her brow furrowed as she tried to recall.
“Sienna,” I corrected, a flicker of realization igniting in my mind. I wondered if Claire was contemplating the same scheme I was.
“Right, Sienna,” Claire echoed slowly, a sly smile creeping onto her face. “Pretty girl, but a bit impulsive, if you ask me. Not to mention, she can be quite jealous and petty.”
A slow, mischievous grin spread across my lips as I caught Claire’s knowing expression in return.
Perfect.
I leapt to my feet, nearly toppling my tea in the process. Damien was coming! I needed to escape, and fast.
“Easy now, Amelia,” Jake commanded, his voice firm and authoritative, radiating the strength of an Alpha. “You’re not going anywhere. We won’t let Damien get to you.”
With unwavering conviction, he ordered Tara, “Take Amelia to one of the concealed alcoves. We’ll handle this situation,” he assured me, his gaze steady. “You’re not alone anymore.”
Clinging to his words like a lifeline, I allowed the sisters to escort me into the living room, where a hidden panel in the wall beside a bookcase revealed a small, secretive space.
“Stay in here, Miss Amelia,” Tara instructed, her tone reassuring. “We’ll keep you safe, I promise.”
My heart raced, fear gripping me tightly, rendering me speechless as I nodded in response. As the door clicked shut, sealing me away from the chaos, the last image I caught was Jake and his family entering the room, their bodies poised as if ready to defend against an impending storm.
**Damien POV**
I was finished with playing nice. The last time I had come here, I had respected the boundaries, halting at the edge of the territory and waiting for Alpha Jake to approach me. But that era of respect and civility was behind me now—the man stood as an obstacle between me and my wife.
