Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 39

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 39**

**Amelia’s POV**

Long after Damien’s departure, his ominous words lingered in my mind like a haunting melody that refused to fade. *This isn’t over.*

The phrase reverberated within me, a relentless reminder of the anxiety that simmered just beneath the surface. Even as Jake and his parents gently guided me from my secluded corner, leading me to the comfort of the living room sofa, I felt a heavy weight of dread that I couldn’t shake off.

How could I sit here, when my mere presence posed a threat to this kind-hearted family that had so graciously opened their home to me?

Jake stepped away momentarily, engaging in hushed discussions with a few of his pack’s enforcers. When he returned to us, his expression was serious but reassuring. “He’s gone. Our enforcers kept a vigilant watch on him, ensuring he returned to his own territory without incident. I’ve just been informed that he has indeed left.”

“See? He’s gone,” Lillian chimed in, placing her hand over mine in a gesture of comfort. “There’s nothing to worry about.”

I couldn’t help but shake my head, the fear gnawing at me. “You heard what he said. This isn’t over. He already threatened to hurt you…”

“If we don’t keep you safe,” Lillian interjected firmly, her voice steady. “And we absolutely will.”

I felt a chill run down my spine. “He’ll be looking for any excuse,” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. As Alpha, Damien had never been one to accept a simple *no*. “He won’t stop until I’m back there…”

The memories of my time in the pack flooded my mind—an outcast, shunned and tormented. But what haunted me even more was the thought of him wanting to end my pregnancy.

Instinctively, I wrapped my arms protectively around my stomach, as if I could shield my child from the darkness that loomed over us.

“He won’t start a war,” Milton interjected, his tone measured and calm. “He’s impulsive, yes, and that impulsiveness brought him here today. But he is still an Alpha. A wise one wouldn’t jeopardize his pack’s lives over personal matters.”

Jake crossed his arms, a look of determination etched on his face. “Those threats were mere theatrics. He refuses to accept that Amelia has made her choice, that she has left him of her own accord.”

“This is your home now,” Lillian said softly, her motherly warmth enveloping me like a comforting blanket. It made my heart ache, a longing for a family like theirs.

“Absolutely, you are staying,” Martin added, though he questioned, “Where would you even think to go on your own?”

The truth was, I didn’t have an answer. I was lost, devoid of any clear destination. “Back to the human realm?”

All eyes in the room fell to my hands, which still guarded my stomach. A pregnancy like mine was already an anomaly, even within the werewolf community. In the human realm, the doctors would be utterly bewildered by my condition.

I had been warned that my pregnancy was precarious. The best chance for my unborn child lay in remaining here, where the complexities of its werewolf heritage could be addressed properly.

Jake and his parents didn’t need to speak for me to sense their shared concern. The unspoken understanding in their gazes was enough to convey their worry, a silent bond that tied us together in this moment of uncertainty.
