Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 45

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**

**Chapter 45**

As I hurriedly gathered the plates, I made a conscious decision to leave the tainted dish behind, a silent testament to my brewing plans. Ascending the staircase, I could hear the soft murmur of voices from the dining room, and as I stepped through the doorway, my gaze fell upon my family. They were already gathered around the table, seated and seemingly taken aback by my unexpected appearance. Their expressions shifted from surprise to curiosity as their eyes fell on the dishes I carried.

“Sienna,” my mother greeted, a small smile gracing her lips. “What a delightful surprise to see you joining us for dinner.”

“Not just joining us, but also lending a hand to Amelia!” my father chimed in, his tone filled with a sense of pride that I found almost irksome. He had the audacity to look so pleased, especially after the condescending remarks he and Jake had exchanged about me in the office just days ago. They had no idea I was privy to their words—how they labeled me as challenging, how they believed I was a whirlwind of chaos.

Tonight, however, I was determined to show them who could truly create disorder.

I placed the plates down carefully in front of my mother and father, trying to mask my simmering resentment.

Amelia, ever the overachiever, carried three plates: one for Jake, one for herself, and finally, one for me.

Once all the plates were arranged, we settled into our seats, the atmosphere thick with anticipation.

“This looks absolutely wonderful, Amelia,” Jake remarked, his smile directed solely at her, as if I were invisible. Did he not see the effort I had put into this? Why did Amelia consistently steal the spotlight?

“Very impressive,” my father added, nodding in approval.

With a collective clatter, they all lifted their forks, diving into the meal with enthusiasm. The meat glistened under the soft glow of the dining room light, accompanied by vibrant peas and fluffy potatoes, all nestled beside a warm, buttered roll. It truly was a feast for the senses, and the tantalizing aroma wafting through the air only fueled my growing frustration.

Was there anything Amelia couldn’t excel at?

Finally, Amelia raised her knife, preparing to cut into her piece of meat. Not wanting to appear overly eager, I mirrored her actions, but my heart raced with anticipation. In unison, we both brought our portions to our mouths, chewing and swallowing in a synchronized rhythm.

The excitement for what was to unfold next was almost unbearable, and I found it difficult to remain still.

Mother’s keen eyes caught my fidgeting. “What’s the matter, Sienna?” she inquired, her brow furrowing in concern.

“Nothing,” I replied dismissively, my focus unwavering as I watched Amelia, waiting—patiently waiting—for the moment of truth.

As she reached for another piece, my gaze dropped to her plate.
