Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 452

Chapter 452

She only really wanted her own flesh and blood. Her Amelia.

“What are you doing?” snapped the server behind me in the line. “Keep walking,”

His curt voice shook me from my melancholy and I continued walking forward.

I couldn’t allow myself to get distracted. As much as I wanted to dump this tray of food all over Amelia’s head, I had to focus.

Dumping the tray now would ruin my plans later, and she’d only look like a victim again.

I had other plans for her tonight.

Damien’s POV

While Amelia, her parents, and the kids walked forward, ready to enjoy the festivities, I stayed a few steps behind, following them but with enough space between us for me to properly take in the full scene.

I was searching each of the guests’ faces for anyone unknown. We’d arrived early, but there were still a few fellow attendees here with us. Many I knew, pack council members and their wives. But there were a few that I didn’t.

My eye caught on one group of three women. While they didn’t look like Claire, Sienna, or Ruth in the face, they had similar body shapes. Perhaps the group had found a way to disguise their features? I’d heard witches could brew potions that could do all kinds of things.

On guard, I broke from my family to approach the group. They were wearing fine clothing and talking about how old Alpha King Benedict would be nowadays.

I interjected, “Excuse me. I don’t believe I know you. Could you each identify yourselves?”

They turned to me with some surprise. Perhaps I was being rude. I was certainly being curt and straightforward, which wasn’t the most polite way of handling things. But with two fugitives and an accomplice on the loose, I wasn’t taking any chances.

“I’m Lady Whitney, and this is my sister Pearl. And this is our mother, Glenda.”

I looked at each of them as they were introduced. “Can someone verify that information?”

This time, they seemed more taken aback than surprised. The mother even seemed offended.

“Damien,”

,” Jake said from behind me as he approached. “These three ladies are well respected members from my pack who have been personally invited by you and your Luna.” As he came to my side, he bowed his head slightly to the ladies. “Please forgive Alpha Damien’s rudeness. He has a lot on his plate and means no offense.”

The ladies seemed willing to accept Jake’s words.

“Of course,” Lady Whitney said, and the group of three excused themselves,

After they left, Jake turned toward me. “We cannot allow suspicion to override our decency, Damien.”

“They could have fit the description of Claire, Sienna, and Ruth,” I said, in my defense.

“Those were high ranking members of my pack,” Jake said. “You accosted them like criminals. Our intent here is not to make more enemies. We need the precious few allies that we have, especially when we will be facing Alpha King Benedict’s disappointment tonight.”

Jake was right. Since we hadn’t caught Claire and Sienna yet, both of our necks might be on the chopping block. As someone who had already been there once, I wasn’t looking forward to revisiting that moment.

“Besides, even if you wanted to confront someone, that was the wrong way to do it,” Jake said. “If you are too obvious, we’ll never catch anyone tonight.”

“I thought you were more worried about rogues than Claire and Sienna,” I said.

Jake looked around. “Honestly? I’m worried about everything. Tonight is the perfect night for anyone to act against us. We both need to be on guard.”
