Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 62

**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 62**

**Amelia’s POV**

“Jake!” I called out, my voice laced with urgency as the oppressive weight of Damien’s presence loomed over me like a dark cloud. My gaze was locked onto him, and yet an overwhelming tide of anxiety surged within me, compelling me to retreat, to escape the man who had haunted my past for far too long. In that moment, Jake was there, almost as if he had sensed my distress, his arm encircling my waist in a protective embrace that was both comforting and reassuring.

“It’s alright,” he murmured, his voice a soft caress against my frayed nerves. “I’m here.”

“Damien…” The name escaped my lips, heavy with a mix of dread and disbelief. Was the man standing before me truly Damien, or was he simply a figment conjured by my spiraling panic? The very idea of him being here, sharing the same space with Dr. Wyatt, was utterly bewildering. Yet, Jake’s calm demeanor suggested that perhaps my fears were unfounded. Or maybe, just maybe, Damien was nothing more than a ghost of my anxious imagination.

“I had hoped to give you a warning,” Jake said, his voice thick with resignation. “I encountered them at the border. Even Dr. Wyatt insisted on bringing him along.”

“But…” My heart raced, panic swelling within me like a tidal wave as I turned to Jake, searching his face for reassurance.

“It will be alright,” he insisted, his tone steady and unwavering, a lifeline amidst the storm of uncertainty swirling around us. “I will not allow him to lay a single finger on you, Amelia. You have my word.”

Though his promise offered a flicker of comfort, it did little to quell the tempest brewing inside me, a whirlwind of fear and confusion.

“I will remain by your side,” Jake vowed, lowering his voice to a hushed whisper as Dr. Wyatt and her team advanced toward us, the air thick with tension.

Then, like the distant rumble of thunder, I heard Damien growl—a sound that sent an icy shiver racing down my spine.

“Please,” Dr. Wyatt implored, her tone a delicate balance of firmness and gentleness. “Alpha, I must insist that you attempt to control yourself. Amelia needs you to be calm.”

With a reluctant nod, Damien lowered his head, stifling his growl. But as he raised it again, his fierce glare shifted back to Jake, a silent battle of wills crackling in the air between them.

Dr. Wyatt gestured for her companions to maintain their distance, stepping closer to me with a reassuring presence.

“Amelia,” she greeted me warmly, her voice wrapping around me like a familiar embrace, a shelter from the storm.

I owed her so much for everything she had done. The injections she administered may have caused moments of pain, but they had also gifted me the miracle of life growing within me. Beyond that, she had stood by me, a steadfast guardian in the shadows, as I navigated the treacherous waters of Damien’s pack, desperately seeking my freedom.

Her soothing demeanor had always served as a refuge, even amidst the agony I endured. Now, I felt that same sense of solace, though it was slightly overshadowed by the looming threat of Damien behind her.

His intense gaze had shifted from Jake to me, softening as it settled upon my form. He searched my face, as if trying to decipher the changes that had occurred since our last encounter. I didn’t believe I appeared much different; my waist had only just begun to show the evidence of my pregnancy.
