Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 8

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**

**Chapter 8**

**Amelia POV**

The moment Damien spoke, I felt as if the last fragile threads of hope I clung to were severed, leaving me adrift in a sea of despair.

“Superior.” That single word hung in the air, heavy and suffocating, as he described the child Claire could bear for him. It was a stark reminder of what he desired—a purebred werewolf, a legacy of strength and lineage.

And yet, I knew deep down that I could never be that for him. No matter how fervently I worked to demonstrate my worthiness—my value to him, to the pack, to my role as Luna—I would always remain just a human. Our child, should we ever have one, would be a mere half-blood, a mixture of werewolf and something deemed lesser.

Something inferior.

An icy wave surged through me, first igniting a panic that clawed at my insides, then, strangely, washing over me like a numbing tide. I felt an unsettling calm settle in, as if the world had dimmed to a muted gray.

That’s it, I thought bleakly. There’s nothing left for me to do, nothing more to try, no flicker of hope to hold onto. The only option left is to leave.

As we returned home, Damien, perhaps sensing the weight of his words, attempted to retract his earlier comments. He ushered me into the living room, placing a steaming cup of tea in my hands and draping a soft blanket over my lap. Yet, despite the warmth of the tea and the comfort of the fabric, I continued to shiver, an unshakable chill gripping my bones.

“Your health is paramount, Amelia,” he murmured, his voice laced with concern. “Carrying my child… it would be too much for your body to endure. I couldn’t bear the thought of being the reason you suffered.”

But the truth was, something terrible had already happened to me. And it was because of him. Yet, anger felt distant, slipping away like sand through my fingers. All that remained was that biting coldness, that numbing void.

Before I could muster a response, Damien’s phone rang, shattering the silence.

We were close enough that I could hear Claire’s voice on the other end, clear and familiar.

“Hang on,” he instructed her, then covered the mouthpiece with his hand as he stood. “I need to step outside for a moment. I won’t be long.”

I forced a calm facade, even managing a smile. “I understand,” I replied, my heart racing with the realization that this could be my chance. “Go ahead, I’ll be fine.”

But as soon as he stepped out the door, I flung the blanket aside, set my tea down with a thud, and dashed up the stairs.

No way, I kept repeating in my mind. There’s absolutely no way I can stay here, no way I can endure this life, no way I can subject my future child to this existence.

I hurried to my room, spotting the half-full suitcase I had carelessly left on the bed. It was still there, a silent testament to my intentions. I quickly rummaged through it, deciding that whatever I had packed would have to suffice. With a determined breath, I closed the suitcase, grabbed my coat, and made my way back downstairs.

If luck was on my side, I could slip my car out of the garage and be miles away before Damien or anyone else even realized I was gone.

But just as I reached for the front door, it swung open, and Damien stepped back inside. The moment he saw me, his expression darkened, and he erupted like a volcano.

“You lied to me! Amelia, how could you?”

“I’m leaving another enforcer, Lydia, to guard you.”

“What?” I exclaimed, sitting up sharply on the edge of the bed as I watched him methodically adjust his tie and jacket. There goes my entire escape plan, I thought, an icy dread settling in. Am I destined to remain trapped here forever?

“It’s for your protection, Amelia. Until I’m convinced you’re serious about accepting this situation, I need to ensure there’s someone close by to prevent any reckless escape attempts.”

He called Lydia into the room. “I want Amelia to understand that I’ve issued strict orders regarding her care. She is to receive food and anything else she requires whenever she asks. I will not tolerate any mistreatment of my wife, your Luna.”

Lydia glanced at me, her expression devoid of empathy or curiosity.

“If you disrespect her in any way, you’ll wish for banishment. Jeremy was a mistake I refuse to allow to happen again.”

“Understood, Alpha. Luna Amelia, I’ll be just outside the door,” she replied, offering a respectful nod before retreating into the hallway.

In that moment, the reality of my situation hit me like a freight train. I was being neatly contained, kept out of sight, punished for being a disobedient girl who wouldn’t follow the rules.

The bitterness and sense of betrayal surged within me, threatening to spill over.

“You can’t treat me like this!” I cried out, all the anguish and despair I had bottled up flooding to the surface as Damien turned to walk away. “Damien, please! I’m pregnant!”
