Lydia let out a cold laugh. “Grace again?”
Juna clicked her tongue. “What kind of stunt is she trying to pull this time?”
Lydia reached over and patted down the two men, finding their phones in seconds. She unlocked them with practiced ease, wiped out all the secret photos and anything related, then slipped the phones into her own pocket like it was nothing.
She knew Grace and Lucinda kept in touch. Thinking back to what Lucinda had said when they left the Robinsons’ place together, it all clicked. Lucinda was definitely involved tonight. But now, Lydia needed to figure out if these two guys had any ties to Black Eagle. If they did, catching them tonight would be a major win.
Lydia glanced at Juna. “Forget going home. We’re heading to the police station.”
Juna didn’t hesitate. “Works for me. I wasn’t planning on going home anyway.”
Meanwhile, Grace was back at her apartment, anxiously waiting for news from her men. She waited and waited, but there was nothing. She checked the clock. Three in the morning. With growing worry, she dialed their numbers. Once, twice, no answer either time. Her brows knitted together, and that uneasy feeling only got worse.
While she was still trying to make sense of it, someone knocked on her door. Her heart skipped a beat, and a wave of dread hit her. She rushed around the room, looking for the burner phone she used to contact Night Eagle. She didn’t know whether to hide it or not. In a panic, she grabbed the phone and hurled it out the window.
If the phone was gone, no one could prove her connection to Night Eagle.
She’d barely gotten rid of it when Lydia kicked the door open. Lydia walked in, the two men behind her, both now flanked by police officers.
“Lydia… what are you all doing here in the middle of the night?” Grace stammered, completely blindsided. She hadn’t expected her goons to fail so badly, let alone get caught.
Lydia looked at her with a sly smile. “You really don’t know why I’m here?”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
