Ready to Rule The Real Heiress Strikes Back (Lydia and Connor) novel Chapter 1147

“Hmph, Lydia, look at you now. Always acting so perfect, so untouchable, and now the whole internet is turning its back on you.” Rosie muttered under her breath, her jealousy twisting inside her like something poisonous.

She hated how Lydia could just show up and everyone would be drawn to her, showering her with compliments. It was bad enough Lydia had stolen her spotlight, but now she was going after the guy Rosie loved too? That was the last straw.

Right then, a gentle knock sounded on her door. Mandy’s voice called out, “Rosie, hurry up, your uncle’s back. Let’s go see him.”

Mandy had just gotten word that Jackson was home. There wasn’t any bad news for now, and he was already at the Hydes’ place.

Rosie jumped up, excitement lighting up her face as she pulled the door open. “Mom, Uncle’s home? He’s okay?”

Mandy nodded. “Yes, he’s fine. He’s already there. Your grandparents told me themselves. Get ready and put yourself together. We’re bringing a gift to the Hydes’ house.”

Across town, Lydia was back in her room. She quietly closed the door, blocking out the noise from the rest of the house. Calm and collected, she sat at her desk and opened her laptop. Her fingers danced over the keyboard, lines of code spilling down the screen. With her hacking skills, it didn’t take long for her to slip right into the Gibson family’s network.

Meanwhile, Rosie was humming to herself, picking out clothes and putting on her makeup. She had no idea her phone had already been hacked.

Rosie had gone all out. Two troll farms in the Capital weren’t enough for her, so she’d hired two more in Maple Town. Four companies, all working together to get Lydia trending for the worst reasons. At five million a pop, that was twenty million in total.

Lydia let out a soft laugh. Rosie thought she was clever? She was just copying the tricks Sandy had already used.

Mandy looked at her. “Rosie, remember to be polite with your grandparents. Watch what you say, okay?”

Rosie smiled. “I know, Mom.”

They had barely stepped through the Hydes’ front gate when Rosie’s phone rang again. Another troll company manager. This wasn’t the time. She declined the call, then put her phone on silent. She figured they just wanted to brag and get the rest of their money.

Since she wasn’t answering, the company sent her a text instead.

[Miss, it’s bad. Our system just got hacked. The whole transaction could be exposed!]
