Connor’s hand shook as he tried to balance the tray. Sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, casting soft golden patterns across Lydia’s narrow shoulders. Her shadow stretched across the floor, long and thin, like a rose battered by the storm but refusing to fall.
“It’s out,” he said, forcing his voice to sound calm.
“Let’s get some food first. I asked the kitchen to make some chicken soup.”
Lydia turned toward him and nodded. “Okay.”
She couldn’t see right now, but her sense of direction was still sharp, and her hearing was better than ever.
Connor set the tray down, walked over, and took Lydia’s hand in his, holding on tight. “Once we finish breakfast, we’ll go see Mr. Moore.”
They couldn’t reach Garrett, but Kevin was an excellent doctor too. Maybe he’d figure out what was causing Lydia’s sudden blindness.
Lydia nodded again. “Okay.”
After they ate, Connor wasted no time. He grabbed his keys and took Lydia straight to Capital Med School to find Kevin.
Everyone at Capital Med School had been following Lydia’s performance in the medical competition in Country D. Kevin, in particular, had been so proud he couldn’t stop smiling. But after he found out what Marilyn and Yara had done, he didn’t hesitate for a second. He expelled them on the spot. Students like that were more than just a disgrace to the school. They embarrassed the entire country.
Thankfully, Lydia hadn’t let anyone down. She still managed to win honor for them all.
Marilyn and Yara didn’t seem surprised when they got expelled. Deep down, they knew exactly what they’d done.
Kevin was disappointed Lydia hadn’t come back with the rest of them, but he figured she’d stayed behind in Country D to work on the antidote. He tried not to worry. Maybe she’d be cured by the time she returned.
He just never expected her to come back so soon. When Connor called, Kevin assumed they were both still abroad. He didn’t expect to hear that they were already back and needed to meet right away. That gave him a sinking feeling, but he didn’t ask much over the phone. He just told Connor to meet him in Lydia’s private lab.

thank u!...
thank u for the upload...
the next chapter is exciting...
the next upload is exciting. i cant wait....
Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
