“All right, Lucinda. Just be careful, okay?”
“I will.”
Paige was already waiting outside the Norwood family villa. The moment she spotted Lucinda stepping out, all dressed up and poised, she rolled down her window and waved. “Lucinda!”
“Paige.” Lucinda walked over and slipped into the passenger seat.
Paige glanced over and frowned. “Have you been dieting again? You look even skinnier lately.”
Lucinda gave a small, bitter smile. “Not on purpose.”
She just hadn’t been able to eat much. Her mood made everything taste bland.
“You were already perfect at 100 pounds. You really don’t need to lose any more.”
Lucinda was probably down to ninety-five pounds by now.
“I’ll try to eat a little more.”
Paige started the car and pulled out, but almost immediately, they ended up face to face with a sleek black luxury car.
Lucinda’s heart skipped a beat. That was Connor’s car.
It was barely past nine. She’d thought he wouldn’t show up this early. Now Paige had seen him, too.
Paige watched as the car glided past them without stopping, then turned to look at Lucinda, noticing how her face had gone pale. “That was Connor’s car, wasn’t it?”
Lucinda nodded, her expression stiff. “Yeah.”
Paige got even more anxious. She hesitated, then asked, “Did he… did he do something to hurt you?”
Stuff like this happened all the time with rich families. But Connor was supposed to be different. He was always cold, always distant, never caught up in drama or gossip. He didn’t seem like the playing type.
“Paige, I really don’t want to talk about him right now. Even if he shows up today with gifts, I don’t want to see him. Let’s just go shopping, okay?”
Since Lucinda didn’t deny it, Paige assumed she was right.
She gaped at her. “Lucinda, who is it? Who would dare try to steal your boyfriend? Just tell me who it is and I’ll handle it for you!”
Lucinda shook her head softly. “Paige, I’ll deal with it myself.”
Paige frowned, not satisfied. “You’re seriously too nice. I warned you, with Connor’s status, there’d be girls all over him. I told you to keep an eye out, but you never listen.”

Olha a história bem boa só algumas coisas são chatas ( nesse tipo de história sempre troca as filhas pela a da empregada ou então pegam uma menina pra criar) pelo menos eles tratam a filha bem só enche o saco que até agora a Lucinda tá lá enchendo ! Fora isso tá bom Connor é um fofo a família dela a ama muito só Lucinda pra abaixar o nível do livro já era pra ter resolvido isso e fazer ela pagar mais tudo bem li um livro chinês que era parecido só algumas coisas diferentes ,ais mesma coisa tipo ela salvou o Connor no início lá ela salvava o avô dele , no chinês ela não tinha um irmão mais novo com os pais adotivos , a mãe dela tinha 2 irmãos e todos os avós estavam vivos mais história quase igual e tem coisas tipo o triângulo que lá TB tinha até a Lucinda que no chines TB ficou o livro todo aprontando só no final a família descobria e se livrava dela aí ela ia morar com o cara que ela usa pra disfarçar que não gosta do Connor aí depois ainda quase matava a irmã dele e a mãe dele que ele via como ela era...
