Chapter 107

Zade placed a protective hand on my shoulder. She doesn’t owe anyone an eplanation for choosing her own happiness over this toxicity.”

“Stay out of this,” Thorne snapped at him with a distaste present in his tone

‘This is between pack members.”

Lumina stopped being just a pack member the moment she called me,” Zade replied calmly, still not rising to the bait. Sometimes his control used to

infuriate me but now I was grateful for it.

“She’s under my protection now.”

“Your protection?” Thorne laughed bitterly. “You’re using her pain to get revenge on Xenois. You don’t care about her – you just want to hurt him.”

I felt Zade tense beside me, but his voice remained controlled. “My relationship with Lumina began a long time ago before her marriage to Xenois. My

feelings for her have nothing to do with my rivalry with him.”

Thorne’s eyes widened as he looked between us. “Relationship? How long has this been going on?”

“It’s not what you think,” I said quickly. “Zade and I knew each other before met Xenois. We… we had a connection.”

A connection?” Thorne’s voice was filled with disbelief. “You’re telling me you’ve been having an affair?”

“No,” I said firmly. “I have never cheated on my husband. But Zade and I have stayed in touch over the years. He’s been a friend when I needed one.”

“A friend, Thorne repeated sarcastically, shaking his head clearly not believing me because it sounded ridiculous and too elaborate to be just a

coincidence.

*Right. A friend who just happened to show up the day your marriage fell apart. A friend who’s offering to help you leave your husband.”

“A friend who actually cares about my wellbeing,” I shot back. “Unlike my husband, who’s more concerned with protecting his ex-girlfriend’s feelings than

his own wife’s.”

“This is crazy,” Thorne said, shaking his head. “Lumina, you’re making a decision based on anger and hurt. You’re not thinking clearly.”

“I’m thinking more clearly than I have in months,” I said. “I’m tired of being the understanding wife. I’m tired of being the one who has to compromise

all the time to not get Sophia worked up. Do you imagine how ridiculous this sounds.”

‘So you’re just going to abandon your son? Thorne asked, his voice low and accusatory.

The question hit me like a physical blow, and I felt tears threatening again. shook them off as I looked at Thorne shaking my head.

‘I’m not abandoning Ollie. I’m saving him from growing up in a house full of lies and resentment.”

“By taking him away from his father?”

“By taking him away from this mess,” I corrected. “By giving him a chance to grow up in a home where he’s not constantly witnessing his parents’ failing

marriage.”

“Xenois will never let you take Ollie, Thorne said quietly. “Pack law gives hi the right to keep his heir here.”

“Then I’ll fight him in court,” I said, my voice hard like steel. ‘I’ll prove that he’s an unfit father who prioritizes his ex-girlfriend and illegitimate son

over his own family.”

“You’re going to destroy everything,” Thorne said, his voice filled with despai “Your marriage, your family, the pack’s stability – all of it.”

“It’s already destroyed, I said softly. I’m just refusing to pretend otherwise anymore.”

I looked toward the hallway where I could hear the boys playing, their innocent laughter a stark contrast to the adult drama unfolding in the living

room. How long before Ollie learned the truth about his half-brother? How long before he started asking questions about why his parents were fighting?

‘I need to pack,’ I said finally. “Zade, can you give me an hour?”

“Take all the time you need,” he replied gently. “I’ll be here.”

As I headed toward the stairs, Thorne called after me. “Lumina, please. Don’t do this. Give Xenois a chance to explain, to make things right.”

I paused at the bottom of the stairs, looking back at him. He had his chance Thorne. He chose to keep secrets instead of being honest with me. He

chose to believe accusations against me instead of trusting his wife. He made his choice, and now I’m making mine.”
