Then I caught their scent Lumina’s familiar jasmine and vanilla mixed with Ollie’s innocent sweetness, tainted by the foreign musk of another Alpha.

I ran, my paws hitting hard against the asphalt as I followed the trail. Cars swerved out of my way, horns blaring, but I didn’t care about any of it.

I could see them ahead – Zade’s black sedan heading toward the border at a high speed.

My wolf pushed harder, faster, fueled by desperation and rage to get to them before they could leave. I could see the border markers approaching, the

invisible line that separated my territory from Zade’s. Once they crossed it, I would lose them.

In the backseat, I saw movement. Ollie’s small face pressed against the window, his eyes wide with shock and then recognition as he saw me.

‘DADDY!” I heard him scream, though the sound was muffled by the glass and the distance. “DADDY, HELP ME!”

My son was trying to open the car door, reaching for me even as the car sped away. I saw Lumina turn in the front seat, her face pale with shock as she

realized I was chasing them.

She grabbed Ollie, pulling him away from the door, holding him as he cried and reached for me.

The border was right there. Another few hundred feet and they would be beyond my reach.

I pushed harder, my wolf form eating up the distance, but it wasn’t enough.

The car crossed the border just as I reached the line, and I was forced to stop my paws skidding on the wet asphalt as rain began to fall.

The car stopped too, just on the other side of the border. Ollie managed to open the door and tried to run to me, but Zade caught him, holding him back as my son struggled and cried.

*DADDY!” Ollie screamed, his small voice breaking my heart. “DADDY, I WANT TO GO HOME!”

I growled, low and threatening, my wolf wanting nothing more than to tear de apart for touching my son. But the border held me back, invisible but there. There was no crossing the line unless I was ready for a war.

Lumina got out of the car, her face streaked with tears as she wiped the new ones that were falling from her eyes.

“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice carrying across the distance, as she stood where she was, a bit reluctant to step closer.

‘I’m sorry I’m doing this to you, but it’s for the best.”

I shifted back to human form, not caring about my nakedness, not caring about anything except getting my family back.

“Lumina, please,” I begged, my voice breaking. “Please don’t do this. Come home. We can work through this.”

She shook her head, tears rolling down her face.

‘I can’t, Xenois. I can’t stay and watch you choose her over me again and again. I can’t watch you believe the worst about me.”

Tll make it right,” I promised desperately, begging with her. “I’ll send Sophia away. I’ll do whatever it takes.”

‘It’s too late,” she whispered as she shook her head. “The damage is done,”

Chapter 113

Ollie was still crying, still reaching for me as Zade held him. “DADDY, DON’T LET THEM TAKE ME! DADDY, PLEASE!”

I took a step forward, ready to cross the border and consequences be damned but Lumina held up her hand.

“Don’t,” she said firmly, fear in her eyes, worried for me despite the fact that she was abandoning me like this. “Don’t make this worse by starting a war.

Please.”

The rain was falling harder now, soaking through my hair and running down my face, mixing with the tears I didn’t realize I was crying.

“I love you,” I said, my voice raw with emotion. “I love you both. Please don’t leave me.”

Lumina’s face crumpled, and for a moment, I thought she might change her mind. But then she looked at Ollie, at our son who was crying for his father,

and her expression hardened with resolve.

“I love you too,” she said softly. “But love isn’t enough anymore.”

She took Ollie from Zade’s arms, holding him close as he sobbed against her shoulder. “I’m sorry, baby,” she whispered to him. “I’m so sorry.”

They got back in the car, and I watched helplessly as they drove away, taking my heart with them. I fell to my knees on the wet pavement, my human

form unable contain the anguish that consumed me.

I threw back my head and howled, a sound of pure loss and devastation that echoed across both territories. I had lost everything – my mate, my son, my

family.
