Chapter 120
“The doctors say it was brought on by extreme stress and the forced separation from your mate, Thorne continued speaking probably
guessing at the lane my thoughts were heading in as he added. “The bond between you and Lumina was being stretched to its breaking
point.”
The nightmare suddenly made more sense. My subconscious had been processing the very real fear of losing my family, manifesting it
in the most horrific way possible.
But it had felt so real, so vivid, that even now I could barely shake the image of Luna dying in my arms.
“They’re alive,” I said, more to myself than to anyone else as I closed my eyes and took in a shaky breath and exhaled. “It was just a
dream. They’re alive.”
“Who’s alive?” Sophia asked, confusion present in her voice, possibly not following the conversation.
“My son,” I said, glancing at her with haunted eyes.
“In the dream, he was dead. Luna too. They both died because of my neglect.”
I tried to get up from the bed, as I was immediately filled with an overwhelming need to find them, to make sure they were safe and protected from harm. But Thorne placed a firm hand on my shoulder, holding me back.
“Xenois, you need to stay calm,” he said firmly. “You can’t afford to get worked up. The doctors said any additional stress could trigger another heart attack like the last one and I’m not sure your heart can deal with two at the same time.”
‘I have to find them,” I insisted, my voice breaking as I kept trying to push his hands off my body.
‘I have to bring them home. The dream felt so real, Thorne. I lost them both, and it was all my fault.”
‘It was just a nightmare,” Thorne said gently. “Lumina and Ollie are fine. They’re safe.”
Sophia reached out to touch my arm, her voice soft and soothing. “Xenois, you need to rest. You’ve been through a terrible ordeal. Let
me help you-‘
‘Get out,’ I said quietly, cutting her off.
“What?” Sophia blinked in surprise.
“I said get out,” I repeated, my voice growing stronger. “Leave, Now.”
“Xenois, I’ve been here for three days, Sophia protested, sounding shocked and betrayed. Tears were beginning to pool in her eyes as she continued speaking.

Chapter 120

“I’ve been worried sick about you. I’ve barely left your side.”
“I didn’t ask you to,” I said coldly. “Where’s Riley?”
“He’s at home,” Sophia said, her tone defensive. “He’s fine.”

“At home?” I felt anger rising in my chest, cutting through the fog of medication and exhaustion. “You left your five-year-old son alone at home so you could sit in a hospital room with an unconscious man?”
“He’s not alone,” Sophia said quickly. “The maids are checking on him.”
“The maids?” I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“Instead of being by your son’s side, making sure he feels loved and secure, you’ve been here playing nursemaid to someone who
didn’t ask for your help?”
Sophia’s face flushed with anger. “I was trying to help. I was trying to be there for you during a difficult time.”
“Riley is probably feeling neglected and abandoned,” I continued, my voice rising despite Thorne’s warning looks.
“He was in a school accident, he hasn’t been home but staying in my home while waiting for you, and all the while his mum is spending her time hovering over another man instead of taking care of him.”
“That’s not fair,” Sophia protested. “I’ve been worried about you.”
“I didn’t ask you to worry about me,” I said firmly. “I asked you to take care of your son. That should be your priority, not me.”
Authors note: The Nightmare is from Chapter 6. How Lumina and her son died. I didn’t rewrite the dream itself because it would feel repetitive. If you need to refresh your memory, read chapter 6 and 7.
