Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 119

Chapter 119

XENOIS

The nightmare clung to me tightly despite the fact that I was regaining conscience slowly but surely.

In my dream, I had lost everything – Ollie died from neglect and from a heart attack that I couldn’t stop on time, Luna’s heart giving

out from the severed mate bond, both of them gone because I had chosen Riley’s birthday party over my own family.

The guilt and devastation felt so real that even as I began to wake, part of me believed it was true.

I could still hear Luna’s final words echoing in my mind, as I held her dying body begging her to stay with me:”Next time, we’ll be

free.”

The image of her lifeless body in my arms, cold and still, made my chest squeeze with panic that my breath was coming out in

shallow gasps.

My eyes immediately snapped open, and I found myself staring at an unfamiliar white ceiling.

I could hear the steady beating of medical equipment which gave me a clue to where I was and the smell of bleach and cleaning

agents cling to my nostrils.

For a moment, the line between dream and reality seemed to blur, and I wondered if I was still trapped in that hellish nightmare.

“Xenois?” A familiar voice called softly from beside me, startling me when I realized that I wasn’t alone as I thought.

“Thank God, you’re awake.”

I turned my head, my neck which was stiff and aching, just to see Sophia who was seated next to my hospital bed.

Her hand was resting on mine, her fingers intertwined with my own, which felt wrong and disgusting. I immediately pulled my hand

away, my skin crawling at the contact.

“What happened?” I asked, my voice hoarse and weak trying to sit up and look around trying to understand what was happening and

where I was, “Where am I?”

“You’re in the hospital,” Sophia said, her voice was filled with genuine concern for me as she wanted to reach for me as she added.

“You’ve been unconscious for three days.”

Three days. The words hit me like a physical blow as I couldn’t believe it. That was not true at all. I tried to sit up, but my body felt heavy and wasn’t cooperating with me as I collapsed back on the bed.

Chapter 119

:.

The last thing I remembered was chasing after Zade’s car, watching helplessly as he drove away with my mate and son. I had been

standing at the border, naked and desperate, as the rain poured down on me.

“Lumina,” I whispered, the name falling from my lips like a prayer as I looked around half hoping, half deluding myself that they were

outside buying coffee or something.

“Ollie. Where are they?”

Before Sophia could answer my question, the door to my room opened, and Thorne walked in. His face showed the picture of someone

who was very exhausted and his usually immaculate appearance was disheveled and rumpled. He seemed to be wearing clothes and

sleeping in them and probably hasn’t changed it since that night I saw him.

When he saw I was awake, he breathed a sigh of relief, some tension visibly leaving his shoulders as he came closer.

“Thank Goodness, you are awake Alpha,” he said, moving quickly to my bedside as he looked at me from head to toe as he added.

“How are you feeling?”

“Like I’ve been hit by a truck,” I confessed honestly, trying again to sit up. This time, Thorne helped me, adjusting the bed so I could

remain upright and not fall off again.

“What happened to me?”

Thorne’s expression darkened as if he was remembering something unpleasant.

“You suffered a heart attack,” he said quietly. “I found you at the border, unconscious and running a high fever. You were… you were

naked and delirious, calling out for Lumina and Ollie.”

A heart attack. The words seemed impossible to the ears. There was no way that was possible. I was young, strong, an Alpha in his

prime. Heart attacks didn’t happen to people like me.
