Chapter 122
“I need to get him back, Thorne. I need to bring them both home.”
“I know,” Thorne said gently. “But you need to be very smart about this or you are going to end up losing more than just your family. You can’t just charge into another Alpha’s territory demanding your family back. It could start a war.”
“Then what do you suggest?” I asked, frustration evident in my voice.
“Diplomacy,” Thorne said. “We need to find a way to talk about their negotiation, bringing them back to us without triggering a
conflict between the packs.”
“And what about the pack elders?” I asked, suddenly realizing the implications that came with my mate and heir being in an enemy territory. People like my father who would demand blood or banishment for situations like this, who would turn their back on Lumina and
call her tainted and used.
Thorne hesitated, and I could see the conflict in his eyes.
“I haven’t told them,” he said finally.
“What do you mean you haven’t told them?”
“I reported that you were in the hospital due to stress-related health issues,” Thorne explained looking at me as he shrugged his shoulders and continued speaking. “I didn’t mention that Lumina and Ollie were gone. As far as the elders know, they’re at home, staying
out of the public eye while you recover.”
I felt a mixture of relief and concern as I exhaled deeply, this was good.
“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” I asked as Thorne rolled his eyes in a way I was surprised it didn’t fall inside his socket.
“Probably you didn’t hit your head well enough if you still know how to make me angry?’ he retorted as I chuckled shaking my head as I got serious and added. “How long can we keep this quiet?”
“Not long,” Thorne admitted. “Maybe a week, two at most. Eventually, people will start asking questions about what is going on. They’ll want to see their Luna and the heir, Ollie’s absence from school will be talked about by the kids to their parents and soon enough
they will notice something is wrong.”
“Then we need to get them back before that happens,” I said firmly, clenching my fist in resolution as I continued speaking.
“The pack can’t know that my mate fled with my son to another Alpha’s territory. It would be seen as a sign of weakness, of my inability to control my own family,”
“I understand,” Thorne said. “But Xenois, you need to be prepared for the possibility that Lumina might not want to come back. She was deeply hurt by everything that happened with Sophia and Riley. She felt betrayed and abandoned.”

Chapter 122
“I have to try,” I said quietly. “I have to make this right. They’re my family, Thorne. Without them, I have nothing.”
“I know,” Thorne said, his voice filled with compassion as he added from a moment of silence.
And I’ll help you in whatever way I can. But you need to get well first. You need to be strong enough to face whatever comes next.
I nodded, my head although my wolf wanted us to go and get my family back this moment. But Thorne was right I needed to be
smart about this. I needed to be strategic.
‘Keep monitoring the situation,” I said. “Let me know if there are any changes in Ollie’s condition or if Zade makes any moves.”
“I will, Thorne promised. “And Xenois? For what it’s worth, I think you did the right thing with Sophia. She needed to hear that her
son should be her priority.”
I closed my eyes and exhaled. In trying to help both Sophia and Riley settle down here, I had lost sight of what was very important,
my own family.
“I’m going to get them back,” I said, more to myself than to Thorne. “Whatever it takes, I’m going to bring my family home.”
