Chapter 132

“Adventures are supposed to be fun! This isn’t fun! I miss Daddy and I want to go home!”

Mommy reached for me, but I moved further away from her.

I didn’t want her to touch me right now. I was mad at her for taking me away from Daddy, and I was mad at myself for biting that

man Zade when he was trying to help us.

“Ollie, please don’t throw your toys,” Mommy said, but her voice was getting that shaky sound it got when she was about to cry.

“Then take me home!” I demanded, glaring at her as I added. “I don’t like it here! I don’t care if it’s safe! I want my daddy!”

“We can’t go back,” Mommy said, and now she was crying for real, wiping her tears as she shook her head as if trying to convince

herself rather.

“I’m sorry, baby, but we can’t.”

I felt my own tears starting, but I didn’t want to cry in front of her. I was mad, not sad.

Except I was sad too, and confused, and I missed Daddy so much it made my chest hurt.

I was about to throw another car when I heard someone walking in the hallways heading towards our room.

A moment later, a man showed up at the doorway. He looked almost exactly like Lynn, with the same dark hair and the same kind

eyes, but he was definitely a boy, not a girl.

“Hey there,” he said softly, looking at me with a gentle smile on his face, as he took in the scene before he added.

‘I heard there might be a young wolf in here who was feeling upset.”

Mommy stood up quickly, wiping her eyes, trying to look presentable for the man as she spoke.

I’m sorry, we didn’t mean to be so loud. Ollie is just having a difficult time adjusting to our new situation right now.”

The man –

who must be Lyn, Lynn’s twin brother walked into the room and crouched down near me, but not too close.

He didn’t try to grab me or touch me, which I liked.

“It’s okay to be upset,” he said to me. “Moving to a new place is hard, especially when you don’t really want to move.”

I looked at him carefully. He seemed nice, and his voice was calm and gentle, and he seemed to be genuinely concerned and worried

about me.

“I bet you do,” Lyn said, nodding seriously. “Your daddy must be pretty special.”

“He is,” I said, feeling some of my anger go away as I smiled, happy that he was understanding it.

“He’s the best daddy in the whole world. He reads me stories and teaches me about being an Alpha and he always makes sure I’m

safe.”

“He sounds wonderful,” Lyn said. “It must be really hard to be away from him.”

I nodded, feeling the tears starting again. “I miss him so much. And he was chasing our car when we left, but Mommy wouldn’t let us

stop. He was standing in the rain and he looked so sad.”

Lyn glanced at Mommy, then back at me. “Sometimes grown-ups have to make really hard decisions, even when those decisions make

everyone sad.”

“But I want to see him,” I said, my voice getting smaller. “I just want to talk to him and tell him I’m sorry for biting the nice man who

was helping us.”

Lyn sat down on the floor completely, crossing his legs like he was planning to stay for a while. “You know what? I might be able to

help with that.”
