Chapter 202

I scattered herbs around the burned area and began chanting in a language that predated human civilization. The spell built slowly,
drawing power from my grief and rage as it reached back through time to capture the echoes of recent events.
The vision that formed in the air above the clearing was crystal clear, like watching a high-definition movie projected onto smoke and
shadow.
I saw my sister running through the forest, bleeding from what looked like a missing arm, her face twisted with pain and terror. I
watched three figures pursuing her: two older werewolves who moved with the casual confidence of experienced predators, and a younger
man whose scent marked him as an Alpha.
When they caught up to Sophia, when they poured gasoline over her body and set her on fire, I saw their faces clearly enough to burn
them into my memory forever.
Silvia and Samuel Blackwood. Xenois’s parents. And Xenois himself.
But the vision didn’t stop there. As I continued to feed power into the spell, it showed me more recent events. I saw a man with dark
hair standing over a hospital bed, his hands glowing with magical energy as he worked to break the connection between the two boys.
Lyn. A witch working with werewolves to destroy the spells I’d spent months perfecting.
And then another scene: an woman with brown hair performing similar magic on another child. Another witch, another traitor to her
own kind.
Carol. Two witches who had betrayed their own species to help werewolves murder my sister.
The vision faded, leaving me alone in the clearing with the smell of burned earth and the taste of ash in my mouth. But now I knew
exactly who was responsible for Sophia’s death, and I knew exactly what I was going to do about it.
I stood in the circle of scorched ground and raised my hands to the darkening sky, calling on powers that no moral witch should ever touch. The curse I wove was complex and vicious, designed to cause maximum suffering to its targets.
‘By blood and fire, by grief and rage,” I chanted, my voice growing stronger with each word. ‘I call upon the darkness to hear my plea for justice. Those who broke what was mine, those who destroyed what I held dear, let them know suffering beyond measure.”
The magic that flowed through me was cold and corrupt, staining my soul with shadows that would never fully wash away. But I embraced it gladly, let it fill me with power that tasted like vengeance and felt like justice.
“Let the love of their lives suffer fates worse than death,” I continued, focusing my intention on the faces I’d seen in the vision. “Let Carol suffer for her betrayal of witchkind. Let Lyn know the agony of watching those he cares about waste away. Let their hearts break as mine breaks now.”
The curse spread out from the clearing like a wave of malevolent energy, seeking its targets across whatever distance separated us. I

felt it take hold, felt it sink its claws into the magical signatures of the witches who had helped murder my sister.
But a simple curse wasn’t enough. Not for what they’d done. Not for the pain they’d caused me.
I was going to hunt them down, one by one. I was going to make them suffer in ways that would make Sophia’s death look merciful by comparison. And I was going to start with the source of all this tragedy: Lumina Blackwood, the woman whose very existence had
driven my sister to desperate measures.
If Lumina had never been born, none of this would have happened. Sophia would still be alive, still plotting and scheming but safe
from the murderous rage of the Blackwood family.

It was time for Lumina to pay for the chaos her life had caused.
I gathered my supplies and began the long walk back to civilization, my mind already working on plans for revenge. The Blackwoods
thought they’d won by murdering Sophia, thought they’d eliminated the threat to their precious family.
They were about to learn just how wrong they were.
