I stood outside the hospital room, my hand hovering over the door handle as I tried to work up the courage to knock on the door and

enter inside.

After everything that had happened in a relatively short week- the curse breaking, the magical backlash that I had survived which was

supposed to kill me but thankfully it didn’t and most importantly, that kiss – I wasn’t sure how to face anyone, especially not Lumina and

her family.

The memory of Zade’s lips against mine kept playing on repeat in my mind, making my cheeks burn with embarrassment and

something else I wasn’t ready to name at the moment. It felt like hope that I had buried deep down inside me over the years while

existing in an orbit around Zade.

Especially after what I saw on his face after Xenois left. The way he’d looked at me afterward, like he’d seen something in me that

terrified him, had been haunting me for hours.

But I needed to check on Lumina and Ollie. After what I’d put myself through to break the magical connection that was slowly killing

the boy, I had to make sure he was truly okay.

And if I was being completely honest with myself, I wanted to see Xenois again too.

The thought of Lumina’s mate made my stomach turn in a way that was entirely inappropriate and something that I couldn’t help myself from feeling.

If circumstances were different – if he wasn’t completely devoted to Lumina, if Zade hadn’t just kissed me and turned my world upside down, giving me hope that maybe he could actually like me back- I might have been tempted to try my luck with the handsome Alpha.

There was something about his fierce protectiveness, the way he’d literally tried to strangle Zade when he thought someone was taking advantage of me, that made my pulse race with excitement and little junior down there as well get him twitching.

But Xenois belonged to Lumina, heart and soul and I knew that. The way he looked at her, the desperation in his voice when he talked about her, made it clear that she was his entire world.

And despite the small stab of jealousy I felt at their obvious devotion to each other, I was genuinely happy for them and the fact that despite what shitty things they were going through, they still loved each other. Even Lumina when she didn’t know the truth about Zade’s mate, when Zade was trying to get her to stay here with him which hurt a lot and made me loathe her deep down, remained faithful to Xenois.

Maybe their marriage could be saved after all, if her mate was this committed to fighting for their relationship.

Taking a deep breath, I finally knocked on the door and waited for permission to enter.

Chapter 203

“Come in,” Lumina’s voice called out, sounding tired but much more hopeful than it had during the worst days of Ollie’s illness.

I pushed open the door and immediately felt overwhelmed by the scene inside.

The room was bustling with activity as the family packed up their belongings, clearly preparing to leave the hospital. Lumina was folding clothes into a suitcase while Xenois carefully wrapped some of Ollie’s toys in tissue paper.

But what stopped me in my tracks was the presence of another child familiar features that made my breath catch in my throat.

a boy who looked to be around Ollie’s age, with dark hair and

“Lyn!” Ollie’s excited voice broke through my shock as the little boy launched himself at me, wrapping his arms around my waist in a

tight hug.

I caught him automatically, my heart swelling with relief and affection as I realized he was truly okay, I hadn’t been able to see him

since I fell unconscious and found myself awake at the hospital with guards in place who were looking after me under Zade’s command

while he went to rescue Lynn and Lumina from being wrongly prisoned.

The pale, sickly child who’d been wasting away just days ago was gone, replaced by this vibrant, energetic boy who practically

bounced with health and happiness.
