Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 216

Chapter 216

ANDY

I stood in the doorway of my cramped home, breathing in the familiar stench of decay and desperation that seemed to be ever ending in every concern of Shadow City.

This place was a sanctuary for people like me witches, criminals, and others who existed outside the boundaries of a well civilized society. It was a city filled with villains and scum of the earth where crimes reigned supreme and goodwill were rewarded with death. Here, among the miscreants and the lawless, I could plan my revenge without interference from good hearted authorities or bleeding- heart do-gooders.

The city spread out in front of me like a festering wound that refuses to heal, its narrow streets were linked up with substandard buildings that housed every kind of supernatural being who had been cast out from society. Dark witches who specialized in curses and hexes. Blood mages who traded in human suffering and loved demeaning humans to kill for their blood and eat their hearts for more powers. Necromancers who communed with the restless dead and forced them to toil and till, never getting rest. We were all refugees here, united by our rejection of the moral constraints that limited lesser practitioners.

I slammed the door behind me and leaned against it, letting the rage that had been building since I discovered Sophia’s death wash over me like a cleansing fire as I took a shaky breath trying to get control of my emotions. Any forgiven emotion that I couldn’t control would only end up leading to a magical outburst that I didn’t want. My sister was gone, burned to ash by those werewolves who thought they could play judge, jury, and executioner without consequences.

But they were wrong. So very, very wrong.

The curse I’d placed on the witches who had destroyed my carefully crafted spells and Sophia’s plans for getting her clutches on Xenois once more was just the beginning.

By now, both Lyn and Carol would be watching their precious loved ones waste away, desperate for a cure that only I possessed. The scrying magic I performed gave me the chance to watch both men collapse under my curse. Marcus, a powerful halfblood and a seer, and Zade, a Prime Alpha. Although I was infuriated once I saw Riley giving them antidotes. How dare he betray me like this. But I wasn’t going to let this put a snag in my place.

The temporary antidotes Riley had no doubt shared with them would buy them time, but not much. A week at most before the curse reasserted itself with renewed vigor.

That desperation would make them careless and desperate which would only help in dividing them further instead of reuniting them against me. While they scrambled to find ways to break my curse, while they focused all their attention on keeping their lovers alive, the Blackwood family would be vulnerable and unprotected. And this was the perfect situation that would enable the kind of destruction I specialized in.

I moved through my home, gathering the supplies I would need for the next phase of my plan.

Sophia had always been too focused on complicated schemes that dealt with matters of the hearts and elaborate manipulations.

Chapter 216

She’d spent 6 good years orchestrating that ridiculous reunion fantasy, convinced she could somehow reclaim the life she’d lost

through her own poor choices.

I had tried to warn her. Had tried to convince her to focus on our other business ventures instead of chasing after fairy tale endings

that would never come true.

Human trafficking was profitable and straightforward – we had a reliable network of buyers, an endless supply of desperate people to

exploit, and low risk of the kind of supernatural retaliation that came from messing with powerful werewolf families.

But Sophia had been obsessed with Riley and Xenois, convinced that passing herself as Riley’s mum and also the kid that they sired

would somehow fill the void in her life that she’d created through years of selfish decisions.
