Chapter 226
XENOIS
The familiar scents of Silver Creek City territory filled my nostrils, as I got closer to the borderline separating my pack from Zade territory. After hours of running through a hostile territory, the sight of my own guards was a welcome relief to me and it loosened a load
that I didn’t know I had carried with me all along.
“Alpha Xenois!” called out Damien Thompson, who happened to be one of my senior border guards, as soon as he saw me approaching
them.
“We’ve been expecting you, sir. Alpha King Samuel informed us you’d be returning this morning.”
I shifted back to my human form behind the privacy screen they had erected for me, very grateful for the preparation they’d made
ahead of time.
Clean water, towels, and a fresh suit were waiting, which allowed me to quickly wash the dirt and sweat from my journey and dress appropriately as the Alpha of this pack.
I came out from the enclosure in dry clothes, straightening my tie to make sure it was fixed properly and running a hand through my still-damp hair, I was greeted by Niklaus, my General in command.
He was a young man around Thorne’s age, with a very high intelligence and unbending loyalty that made him priceless in situations
like this.
“Alpha,” he said, stepping forward with a tablet in his hands as he handed it over to me and started speaking. “We’ve been busy while you were away. We managed to gather a lot of significant information about this Andy person you’re dealing with.”
I found myself staring at several photographs of a woman with dark hair and cold dark eyes. She looked to be in her thirties, and was actually plain in most ways except for the evil glint that was present in her eyes making her look like a hardened criminal in all the
photos.
‘We’ve sent these photos to Alpha Zade as well,” Niklaus continued speaking as I was swiping the screen and we walked toward the
waiting car.
“Thought it would be wise to make sure everyone knows what this threat looks like, in case she decides to pay your family a visit.”
The idea of Andy anywhere near Lumina and the boys made my wolf growl with protective fury and desire to separate her head from her body, but I forced myself to remain calm and professional. Losing my cool now will not help me at all.
‘Good thinking. What else do we know about her?”
“Not much, unfortunately,” Niklaus said looking a bit sheepish as we settled into the backseat of the car, closing the doors behind us and putting on seatbelts.

Chapter 226
‘She’s careful about keeping her personal information private. But we do know she’s been operating out of Shadow City for several years, and she has connections to some dangerous supernaturals, such as werewolves and also other witches like herself.”
The driver pulled away from the border station, heading toward the heart of Silver Creek City where my parents’ penthouse was
located.
The familiar streets felt a little comforting but I couldn’t completely relax knowing that Marcus was still out there in my city fighting
for his life.
“Sir,” Niklaus said hesitantly, clearly wanting to ask questions he wasn’t sure he had the right to voice.
“We’ve been hearing rumors about young Ollie’s condition. Is there any good news you can share?”
I felt some of the tension leave my shoulders at the opportunity to share positive information.
“My son is better now,” I said, unable to keep the relief out of my voice.
“He’s no longer on death’s door. He’s going to be fine.”
“Thank God,” Niklaus breathed, his relief genuine, as a small spread on his face as he nodded his head. “The whole pack has been worried sick about him. After hearing he was on a mini vacation with Luna Lumina in another territory and the border restrictions made it impossible for us to send people to see what we could do.”
He was quiet for a moment, then seemed to gather his courage for another question. “And the rumors about Riley? Is there any truth to the stories that connects him to your family? And what happened with Sophia Kingston’s sudden disappearance? Since Riley was missing and found, nobody had seen Sophia’s Kingston again”
I considered how much information to share, thinking about the need to keep this a secret because of security and also weighing the importance of Damien knowing some things in case he’s needed. And I also needed to clarify the issue about Riley’s parentage so I can figure out how the city will take it spread by rumors Incase the outcome isn’t favourable.
‘Riley and Ollie are identical twins,” I said finally. “Lumina is their mother, not Sophia. As for Sophia Kingston, she left of her own
accord and won’t be returning.”
That was technically true, even if it wasn’t the complete truth. Sophia had chosen to kidnap and torture Riley for years without feeling empathy, she had chosen to threaten my family, and those choices had led directly to her death. She wouldn’t be returning because she was ash scattered in my territory, but Niklaus didn’t need those specific details.
I definitely didn’t want to deal with the paperwork that would come with officially reporting her death, and cataloguing her into the system and I sure as hell didn’t want anyone organizing some kind of burial or memorial service for the woman who had tortured my son.
A sudden chill ran down my spine, making me sneeze unexpectedly.
The sensation was so random and specific that it immediately made me suspicious.

“Someone’s talking shit about me,” I muttered under my breath, rubbing at my nose.
“Probably Zade.”
Niklaus smiled at my comment, after all he was clearly familiar with the ongoing rivalry between Alpha Zade and myself.
“If there’s anything constant in this life, it’s your rivalry with Alpha Zade,” he said with amusement.
“Though I have to say, it’s been entertaining to watch over the years.”
The car pulled up in front of my parents’ penthouse, and I immediately saw Carol pacing anxiously in front of the entrance.
The moment she saw me step out of the vehicle, she rushed toward me with desperation written across every line of her face.
“Xenois, please tell me you have it,” she said breathlessly. “Marcus is getting worse, and I don’t know how much longer-*
“I have it,” I interrupted, pulling the antidote from my jacket pocket and pressing it into her hands. “Riley said to make sure Marcus
drinks all of it, or it won’t work properly.”
Carol clutched the vial like it was the most precious thing in the world, which I supposed it was to her.
“Thank you,” she whispered, tears streaming down her face. “Thank you so much.”
She turned and rushed back into the building, presumably to get the antidote to Marcus as quickly as possible. I watched her go,
hoping that Riley’s medicine would work as effectively for Marcus as it had for Zade.
