Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 227

Chapter 227

XENOIS

“Xenois! My mum’s voice was loud enough to be heard from the entrance, and I turned to see both my parents approaching me with expressions of concern and relief written across her face.

Silvia Blackwood looked as elegant and dangerous as ever, she wore her hair in her favourite style paired with the latest designer clothes that did little to hide the predator aura that marked her as one of the most formidable Luna and assassin in the region.

Samuel walked beside her, supportive as always with his calm facade, as he was normally the controlled one between the two of them and the one to pull her back when she lost control, but I could see the worry in his eyes despite his composed attitude.

“How’s Ollie?” Silvia asked immediately, reaching out to pull me into a fierce hug, probably bruising two or more ribs in the process as well as she continued speaking. “We’ve been worried sick ever since you left, if only we could come with you without leaving the pack without people in authority, we would have.”

“He’s going to be fine,” I assured them both, returning my mother’s embrace, hugging her as well as a smile showed up on my face. Despite our differences concerning certain things, my mum was protective and fierce about those she loved.

“The immediate crisis is over, though we still have some complicated situations to work through.”

“And Riley?” Samuel asked, his voice sounding careful as he pushed for information I might not be ready to share.

“Riley is adjusting,” I said simply, nodding my head at him. “It’s going to take time for him to fully trust us and feel safe, but he’s making progress and that’s more than I can ask for at this moment although there are some things that we found that are quite disturbing.”

Silvia’s eyes flashed with the kind of maternal fury that had made her legendary among pack leaders.

“That woman did terrible things to him, didn’t she? I can see it in your eyes, Xenois. What she did to your son.”

I nodded grimly, not trusting my voice to remain steady if I tried to describe the extent of Riley’s abuse to them.

‘Marcus has it worse than Alpha Zade did,” Silvia continued, her hands clenching into fists as she continued speaking, rage present in her words.

“Carol’s been beside herself with worry ever since Marcus stumbled on our territory, besieged with fear that wolves had captured Carol during her first raid since she was days late and then collapsing and suffering from the curse for days,

I’m craving to torture someone, I swear. The urge to hunt down whoever’s responsible for this and make them pay is almost overwhelming.

“Dearest Mine, Samuel said with gentle amusement, “you just got your nails done in preparation for the grandkids coming home. And

it took us days to scrub all of Sophia’s blood out of our guest room after you finished with her.”

Silvia sighed dramatically, as if she was being treated unfairly and gave her mate a pout that made her seem immature as she spoke

“All I want to do is murder someone. Is that too much to ask? Just one satisfying kill to work out all this protective rage?”

Despite everything we were dealing with, I found myself smiling at my mother’s theatrics and rolled my eyes because I was used to

them but it never did stop in making me smile. Silvia had always been prone to dramatic declarations when she was worried about family, though her threats were rarely as empty as she pretended they were.

“Actually, Silvia said, suddenly remembering something as she turned to face me as she continued speaking,

“there’s been a development you should know about. Someone named Bullet has been calling Sophia’s phone repeatedly. We tried to

track the number back, but it’s been marked as unreachable.”

My blood ran cold at this information, as I narrowed my eyes in suspicion. A mysterious person trying to contact Sophia after her

death could only mean one thing she had unfinished business with someone and that could mean trouble for us.

“How many calls?” I asked, my mind already thinking about the implications this could bring for us.

“At least 3 over the past hour, Samuel replied. “Always the same number, always going to voicemail when no one answers, we thought

about sending a text pretending to be Sophia but whoever it is, insists on a call.”

“We need to assume that whoever this Bullet person is, they’re connected to Sophia’s illegal activities,” I said grimly. “And they’re

probably not going to just disappear when she doesn’t return their calls.”

“What do you want us to do?” Niklaus asked, his expression serious as he processed the likely to be a new threat targeted at us.

Before I could answer, my phone buzzed with an incoming call. The display showed Lumina’s name, and I answered immediately,

worried that something had happened while I was away.

‘Lumina? Is everything okay?”

“We’re fine, came her voice, though I could hear the tension underneath her reassurance. “I wanted to make sure that you got there

safely. And if Marcus is going to be alright.”

“The antidote has been given..I’m waiting for feedback from Carol.” I replied as I could hear her relief in her voice as she continued.

“Thank you. Ollie misses you. He said he wants to talk to you when you are free. But Riley…… I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

He’s distant and I get the sense he’s lying about things but I don’t want to call him out on it, maybe he’s worried about me getting angry. And something is strange too. There was an incident about an ice cream truck but nothing significant yet.”

“Riley needs time. You know he’s still mentally back there with Sophia and Andy and sees this as a short reunion. We can’t expect him

to reject them completely so soon but I promise we will resolve this as soon as possible. About the ice cream truck, do you think

something is off about the whole thing?”
