Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 262

Chapter 262

XENOIS

Moving with supernatural stealth, we approached the compound’s outer perimeter. The guards Carol had identified stood at their

posts, alert but unaware of our presence. I could smell their thirst for hunger, the way they scanned the horizon like wolves waiting for

prey to stumble into their territory.

Carol raised her hand, magical energy gathering around her fingers as she prepared to cast a sleeping spell on the front yard guards. The spell wove through the air like invisible silk, touching each guard in turn and dropping them into unconsciousness so smoothly that

they simply appeared to slump at their posts.

We moved through the outer defenses like ghosts, each step calculated to avoid triggering any alarms or detection systems Andy might have installed. So far, our approach was proceeding exactly as planned.

That’s when Thorn, Rivers, and XY broke off from our group, moving toward the main entrance to begin their distraction. I watched

them disappear into position, knowing that once they revealed themselves, all hell was going to break loose.

The rest of us – myself, Zade, Lumina, Carol, Lynn, Kyle, Kashton, and Marcus spread out to begin our search for Lyn. The compound was larger than it had appeared from a distance, with multiple buildings connected by a maze of walkways and underground passages.

We had just reached the main building when Thorn’s voice crackled through our communication devices.

“In position. Ready to-”

The main door of the facility slammed open with enough force to crack the concrete frame. Andy stormed out, her face twisted with fury, her long dark hair whipping around her shoulders as raw magical energy crackled along her fingertips.

“I am absolutely sick and tired of my little partner warning me about uninvited guests!” she snarled, her voice carrying across the compound with supernatural volume.

“Did you really think you could sneak up on me in my own stronghold?”

So much for the element of surprise.

Carol immediately shifted her magic from concealment to combat, throwing up defensive barriers as Andy launched her first attack. Raw magical force slammed into Carol’s shields with enough power to crack the concrete beneath their feet, the sound echoing through the compound like thunder.

That was the signal for chaos to erupt everywhere at once.

Nightwalkers emerged from hidden positions throughout the compound, their twisted forms moving with inhuman speed as they converged on our location. Half-blood fighters rappelled down from upper-story windows, weapons already drawn and supernatural abilities blazing.

Chapter 262

Witches materialized from the shadows, their hands glowing with deadly magic.

“Go!” I shouted to Zade, even as I shifted into my hybrid form to meet the first wave of attackers. “Find Lyn!”

Lumina was already moving, her own fury finally given free rein as she launched herself directly at Andy.

The two women collided in a explosion of magical energy that sent shockwaves rippling through the air, their powers clashing with enough force to shatter nearby windows.

I watched Lumina engage Andy in what could only be described as a battle between titans – two incredibly powerful supernatural beings unleashing everything they had in a fight that had been building for months.

Lumina’s protective rage over Riley and Ollie manifested as raw elemental fury, while Andy’s grief and thirst for revenge created a dark magic that seemed to consume light itself.

Zade and I fought our way deeper into the compound, our werewolf forms tearing through half-blood guards and nightwalker assassins with savage efficiency.

But for every enemy we dropped, two more seemed to take their place. Andy had prepared for this assault, and her forces were both

numerous and well-trained.

A witch appeared in our path, hands already glowing with killing magic. I lunged forward, my claws finding her throat before she could complete her spell, but the distraction cost me precious seconds. When I looked up, Zade was already disappearing through a doorway marked with medical symbols

That had to be where they were keeping Lyn.

I followed, fighting my way through a corridor filled with the acrid smell of chemicals and something else blood, fear, and the lingering traces of healing magic pushed far beyond its normal limits. The sounds of the battle outside grew muffled as we penetrated deeper into the building, but the violence here felt more personal, more intimate.

Room after room yielded nothing but empty medical equipment and abandoned experiments that made my stomach turn. Whatever Andy had been doing in this place, it involved the kind of research that should have been illegal in civilized society.

Then I heard it – a sound that made my blood freeze in my veins.

Lyn was screaming.
