Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 261

Chapter 261

XENOIS

(34)

The planning session stretched deep into the night, maps and tactical assessments spread across every available surface in Zade’s

command center. The abandoned industrial complex where Andy had taken Lyn was a fortress of concrete and steel, with multiple

Buildings connected by underground tunnels and enough hiding spots to conceal an army. But we had advantages too speed,

supernatural abilities, and the element of surprise if we played our cards right.

“The half-bloods will be our primary transport, I announced, studying the satellite imagery Carol had managed to obtain, putting it on the display monitor, as I zoomed in and out of the picture noting important landmarks.

“Kyle, NY, Kashton, and Marcus can move faster than any vehicle and won’t leave the kind of trail that vehicles would.”

Marcus nodded from his position near the window. “We can have everyone at the target location within two hours once we leave. The question is what we do when we get there.”

“Phase one is reconnaissance and neutralizing the guards that will be guarding the perimeters,”

Zade outlined, using a red marker to indicate guard positions on the map.

“Carol, you’ll need to maintain concealment spells for as long as possible. We can’t afford to trigger any alarms before we’re in position.”

“I can manage that, Carol replied, though I could see the strain in her expression. Concealing this many people for an extended operation would push her magical reserves to their limits.

That’s when Ollie’s small voice cut through our discussions. “I want to come too.”

The room went silent. Lumina’s face went pale, and I could see every protective instinct she possessed flaring to life.

“Absolutely not,” she said firmly. “You are not going anywhere near that place.”

“But Riley’s my brother,” Ollie insisted, his young voice filled with determination that reminded me painfully of Riley himself. “He saved me. I should help save him.”

“Ollie,” I said, kneeling down to meet his eyes, “I understand why you want to come. I understand that you love Riley and want to help. But the best way you can help him is by staying safe so he has something good to come home to.”

“I could help, Ollie argued, tears starting to form in his eyes. I’m brave. I can fight too.”

Lumina moved to his side, pulling him into a protective embrace. “Baby, listen to me. We’re not risking you getting caught or hurt. We can’t lose both of you.”

“Your mama’s right,” I said gently.

:

“This isn’t about whether you’re brave enough – we all know you are. This is about keeping you safe so that when we bring Riley

home, he doesn’t have to worry about whether his little brother is okay.”

I could see the internal struggle playing out across Ollie’s features – the desire to help warring with his understanding of the adult

world’s harsh realities. Finally, reluctantly, he nodded. “Promise you’ll bring him back?”

“I promise,” I told him, hoping it was a vow I could keep.

That’s when my parents stepped forward. “We should be going with you,” my mother said, her voice carrying the authority of someone

accustomed to being obeyed. “We killed Sophia. Andy’s sister. This whole situation exists because of our actions.”

“You’re right about that,” I replied, nodding my head. “But I am also guilty, I did not exactly make it easy for her, and we had valid

reasons back then. But that’s exactly why you can’t come. Andy wants revenge against the people who destroyed her family. Having you

there would make her more dangerous, more unpredictable.”

My father’s expression hardened. “We discovered what Sophia had done – how she’d manipulated our daughter Xena’s death to frame

Lumina, the abuse she put Riley through. We have just as much right to face her as anyone.”

And you’ll have your chance,” I assured him. “But not today. Today, I need you here keeping Ollie safe and managing operations from

this end. Make sure Shawn is looked after, and start tracking down anyone else who might have helped plan these people to infiltrate this

territory seamlessly catching all of us off guard.”

I could see the argument building in my mother’s eyes, but Zade’s voice cut through the tension.

‘Samuel, Silvia, Xenois is right. We need experienced leadership here to coordinate backup and handle any secondary threats. This

isn’t about excluding you – it’s about using everyone’s skills where they’ll do the most good.”

Reluctantly, my parents accepted the assignment, though I could tell neither of them was happy about being left behind.

As dawn approached, we finalized the details of our assault plan. The half-bloods would transport us to within a mile of the target,

where we’d split into three teams. Thorn, Rivers, and XY would act as decoys, drawing attention and creating chaos at the main entrance.

Meanwhile, the rest of us would infiltrate from multiple directions, searching for Lyn while eliminating any threats we encountered.

When it was time to move, the half-bloods’ transportation was still as impressive, even with my third time experiencing it. XY lifted

Lumina and Lynn effortlessly, his enhanced strength making the journey look effortless. Kashton carried Carol and Zade, while Marcus

took Thorn and Rivers.

Kyle frowned when he saw that he was stuck with me again.

“Honestly I have been stuck with you any more, I might dump my partner for you, Xen.”He muttered as I rolled my eyes. We still had those passove aggressive stance against each other after all.

“Seems like you secretly enjoy it, since you do not insist on a partner change.”

“F**k off asshole. Remember our deal, no puking.” He said as he grabbed me.

The sensation of moving at superhuman speed while being carried was disorienting, the landscape blurring past at velocities that made my werewolf reflexes struggle to keep up. But within two hours, we were crouched in a grove of trees overlooking Andy’s stronghold, the abandoned chemical plant looming against the early morning sky like something out of a nightmare.

The intelligence we’d gathered proved accurate – guards were stationed at regular intervals around the perimeter, their positions suggesting a defensive setup designed to repel a frontal assault.

But Carol’s enhanced senses revealed something our satellite imagery hadn’t shown.

“None of them are werewolves,” she whispered, her magical perception allowing her to identify the guards’ supernatural signatures.

“Half-bloods, witches, nightwalkers. And they all look…” She paused, searching for the right word. “Bloodthirsty. Like they’re eager for

a fight.”

“Andy’s personal army,” I realized grimly. “Probably promised them revenge against pure-blood supernaturals in exchange for their loyalty. But thankfully, they are adults which means Andy’s children army is smaller than we imagined or they are not all here.”

Carol began weaving her concealment spells around our group, the familiar tingle of magic settling over us like an invisible cloak. I watched her face tighten with concentration as she extended the enchantment to cover all ten of us.

“This will hold as long as we don’t do anything too dramatic,” she warned.

“But the moment we start using our abilities or making noise, the concealment will start to fray.”
