Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 311

Chapter 311

“Even alpha-level enhanced senses have limits. What you’re describing sounds more like…”

“Like magic,” Lynn finished. “Like werewitch abilities.”

(93)

“But Riley isn’t a werewitch,” Rivers pointed out. “He’s a werewolf. Enhanced, maybe, because of whatever Andy did to him, but still

fundamentally a werewolf.”

“We don’t know what he is anymore,” Lumina said, and I heard the pain in her voice. “We don’t know what Andy did to him, what experiments she ran, what she changed. This hearing ability-they called it the ‘hearing game. Like it was something they did for

entertainment, something normal.”

“Nothing about their relationship is normal,” Zade muttered.

I felt cold settle in my stomach as the implications sank in. Andy had experimented on both boys, had pushed their abilities in

directions that shouldn’t have been possible.

And now we were dealing with the aftermath, trying to understand what she’d created without any of the context or information we

needed.

“What else can he do?” I asked, voicing the question everyone was thinking. “What other abilities has he been hiding?”

“We don’t know,” Xenois admitted.

“And that’s what terrifies us. We’re supposed to be his parents, supposed to protect him and guide him. But how can we do that when we don’t even know what we’re protecting him from? When he has powers we can’t understand or control?”

“Lake would know,” Lynn said quietly.

“He was with Riley through all of it. If anyone knows the full extent of Riley’s abilities, it would be him.”

“Which brings us back to the original problem,” Zade said. “We need Lake’s cooperation, which means Lyn needs to have this conversation with him. Needs to clear the air so we can move forward.”

All eyes turned to me, and I resisted the urge to shrink back against the window. This was my decision to make, my trauma to confront. No one could force me to face Lake if I wasn’t ready.

But the truth was, I needed to do this. Not for them, not even for Riley, but for myself. I needed to look the boy who’d tortured me in the eye and prove to both of us that he no longer had power over me.

Tonight,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “But I want Rivers to bring him. Not Riley.”

Xenois frowned. “Riley won’t like being separated from Lake.”

“Riley will have to deal with it,” I said firmly. “This conversation needs to happen without him hovering protectively. Lake needs to

face what he did without his emotional support system as a shield.”

“Agreed,” Zade said immediately, then seemed to catch himself. “If you’re sure about this, love. We can wait longer if you need-*

“I don’t need longer,” I interrupted. “Waiting just gives me more time to talk myself out of it. Let’s do this while I still have the

courage.”

The decision made, the group began to disperse, but the tension remained. Lumina approached me before leaving, her expression

apologetic.

son.”

“I’m sorry,” she said quietly. “I know this isn’t fair to you. Having to confront your torturer because we need information about our

“Nothing about this situation is fair to anyone,” I replied. “But we’re all doing the best we can with impossible circumstances.”

She squeezed my shoulder once, a gesture of support, then left with Xenois. They were heading back to Silver Creek tomorrow, taking both boys with them after nearly two months of staying in Zade’s territory. Their pack would be demanding answers, wanting to know why their alpha and luna had been absent for so long.

The thought of Riley and Lake in Silver Creek, surrounded by werewolves who didn’t understand what they’d been through, made my chest tight with worry. But it wasn’t my problem to solve. I had enough on my plate dealing with my own trauma without taking on

everyone else’s.
