Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 356

Chapter 356

LUMINA

“A home that was just attacked because of their presence,” Elder Johnson countered. “A home that now houses a captured nightwalker

in the basement. Tell me, Alpha Xenois, does that seem like a safe environment for your son? For Ollie?”

I felt Ollie tense beside me, and I reached out to rest a hand on his shoulder in a gesture of comfort and restraint.

“Ollie is fine,” Xenois said, though I could hear the strain in his voice. “All three boys are fine. They’re brave, resourceful, and

perfectly capable of-”

“They’re five years old!” Elder Harriet interrupted, her voice rising. “They shouldn’t have to be brave or resourceful in their own home! They should be safe, protected, allowed to be children. And instead they’re building light prisons in basements and trapping ancient

supernatural creatures. That’s not normal. That’s not healthy.”

“You’re right,” I said, surprising everyone including myself. “It’s not normal. It’s not what childhood should look like. But that’s not Riley and Lake’s fault-that’s the fault of the people who tortured them, who trained them, who stole their innocence before they even had a chance to enjoy it. And now you want to punish them further by casting them out? By making them feel unwanted and unsafe?”

“We want to protect the pack,” Elder Morrison said, though he sounded less certain than before. “That’s our primary responsibility as

elders.”

“Then protect them,” Ollie said suddenly, his young voice carrying surprising authority. “They’re pack too. You’re supposed to protect pack members, not throw them away when it’s inconvenient.”

Everyone turned to stare at my youngest son, standing there with his hands on his hips and defiance blazing in his eyes. He looked so much like Xenois in that moment-all righteous fury and protective instinct with absolutely no patience for political maneuvering.

‘You don’t understand the complexities of pack leadership, child,” Elder Johnson said dismissively.

“I understand that you’re being mean to my brothers,” Ollie shot back. “I understand that you’re scared of what might happen, so you want to make them leave instead of actually helping them. That’s coward stuff.”

‘Ollie- I started, but he was on a roll now.

‘Lake and Riley are smart and brave and they saved us today,” Ollie continued, his voice getting louder.

“They caught a bad guy that all the grown-ups were too scared to fight. And instead of saying thank you, you’re trying to kick them

out. That’s not fair. That’s not what heroes do.”

“We’re not heroes in a comic book,” Elder Johnson said, his patience clearly wearing thin. “We’re real people dealing with real threats, and sometimes that means making hard choices for the greater good.”

‘I could turn off the lights,” Ollie said suddenly, and the shift in his tone made everyone freeze. It was no longer childish defiance but

something colder, more calculated.

“Right now. Just flip the switch. And then Lazarus down there could deal with you instead. See how you like being the ones in

danger.”

“Ollie!” I said sharply, genuine alarm flooding through me. “That’s enough.”

But he wasn’t done. He moved to the top of the staircase, one small hand reaching toward the light switch that controlled the

basement illumination.

He wasn’t actually going to flip it-I was almost certain of that-but the threat was clear enough.

“My brothers built that prison,” Ollie said, his voice steady despite his youth. “They knew how to catch a nightwalker because they’re

smart and prepared. And you want to get rid of them because you’re too scared to appreciate what they can do. Well maybe you should

spend some time with Lazarus and learn what real scary is like.”

“Oliver Cardia Blackwood,” Xenois said, and the full weight of alpha authority was in those two words. “Step away from that switch.

Now.”
