Chapter 443
LUMINA
I was reviewing the coalition coordination notes when Lyn’s hand closed around my wrist with surprising urgency.
‘I need to talk to you,” he said quietly, his voice carrying an edge I’d never heard before. “Privately. Now.
I blinked, startled by the intensity. “Lyn, is everything okay? Is it abou the coalition strategy? Because I think we covered-`
*Not about the coalition,” he interrupted, already pulling me toward the guest room. “Luna to Luna. I need to talk to you Luna to Luna.”
That was unusual enough that I didn’t resist. Lyn was normally composed, analytical, the kind of person who processed emotions internally
before expressing them externally. This frantic energy was completely out of character.
He pulled me into the guest room and immediately locked the door behind us. Then he checked the window, drew the curtains, and stood with his back against the door like he was physically blocking anyone from entering.
“Okay, you’re freaking me out,” I said carefully. “What’s going on? Did something happen? Is Zade okay?”
“Zade’s fine,” Lyn said, then started pacing. Back and forth across the small room, his hands alternating between running through his hair
and gesturing wildly. “This isn’t about Zade. Well, it’s related to Zade, but it’s not about him specifically. It’s about me. And my situation.
Which involves Zade but isn’t his fault. Probably. Maybe. I don’t know.”

I’d never seen him this agitated. Lyn was the calm one, the healer, the person who could handle trauma and crisis with steady competence. Watching him spiral was like watching a building collapse in slow motion.
“Okay,” I said slowly, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. “Start from the beginning. Take a breath. Tell me what’s going on.”
Lyn took a shaky breath, then launched into what appeared to be his entire life story.
“Lynn and I are twins,” he started.
“I know,” I said gently. “Everyone knows that.”

“Right. Yes. Obviously.” He kept pacing. And we’re werewitches. Power ones. Which is why we’ve spent most of our lives hiding what we are because werewolf packs have historically not been great about accepting magical wolves.”
“Also something I know,” I confirmed.
“And when I met Zade, he was a homophobic asshole who didn’t believe he could be with his real mate because that mate was male. So Lynn pretended to be his Luna in public while I was hidden away like a shameful secret because Zade couldn’t handle the idea of openly loving
a man.”
I felt my expression harden. “Are we rehashing on Zade right now? Because I can absolutely do that. I have a list of grievances about how he treated you during that period, and I’m happy to discuss them in detail.
Lyn stopped pacing and looked at me, confused. “What? No. That’s no-I’m not trying to complain about Zade.”
“Because he was terrible to you,” I continued, warming to the topic despite myself. “Making you hide, making Lynn pretend to be his mate,

treating your relationship like something to be ashamed of. And yes, he’s grown and changed and apologized, but that doesn’t erase the damage
he caused during-
“Lumina, Lyn interrupted desperately. “I’m not here to complain about my mate. I love Zade. He’s wonderful now. We’re very happy
together.”
“Oh.” I deflated slightly. “Then why did you bring up that whole history?”
“Context!” Lyn said, resuming his pacing. “I was providing context! Because you’re Zade’s ex, and I wanted you to understand the full
situation before 1- He made an inarticulate gesture that somehow conveyed both panic and frustration.
“I’m spiraling, I realized. “You’re spiraling, so I’m spiraling. This is mutual spiral energy.”
“Exactly!” Lyn said, pointing at me like I’d just solved a complex equation.
“Okay, let me approach this differently,” I said, forcing myself into the calm, analytical mode I used for pack negotiations. “You pulled me aside for a private Luna-to-Luna conversation. You’re clearly upset about something. You mentioned it’s related to Zade but not his fault. And it’s been-what, almost a decade since Zade and I were together? So whatever this is, it’s recent. Current. Something that’s happening now that
you need another Luna’s perspective on.”
“Yes,” Lyn said, looking relieved that I was following along.
“Is this about your sexual life?” I asked bluntly. “Because if Zade is somehow giving you bad sex, I’m confused. When we were together, his sex was very intense. Very good. Like, memorable in ways that made me question whether I’d ever find someone who matched that level of-
“I really don’t need to know that,” Lyn interrupted, his face flushing red. “And no, Zade doesn’t give bad sex. He gives very good sex. We do a lot of freaky things. Okay? A lot. For someone who wouldn’t even kiss a man when we first met, he’s gotten very creative and enthusiastic
about the physical aspects of our relationship.”
“Then what-”
“He does things he’s never done before,” Lyn continued, apparently unable to stop now that he’d started. “Things I didn’t even know were possible. Things that require flexibility and creativity and a complete lack of self-consciousness about bodies and-”
I stood up, grabbed him by the shoulders, and shook him. Hard.
“Lyn,” I said firmly. “You need to tell me what this is about. Right now Because you’re freaking me out and also giving me way too much
information about your sex life with my ex-boyfriend.”
He stared at me for a long moment, eyes wide and slightly manic.
Then he blurted out: “I think I might be pregnant.”
