Chapter 445
LUMINA
“I’m terrified,” Lyn admitted.
“That’s normal,” I assured him. “I was terrified when I found out about the twins. Terrified of pregnancy, of childbirth, of being responsible
for tiny humans who would depend on me for everything. And then Riley got kidnapped at birth and I didn’t even get to hold him, and that was
a whole different kind of terror. But Lyn? Despite all the fear and complications and absolute chaos, having my children was the best thing that
ever happened to me.”
“Even with everything you went through?”
“Even with everything,” I confirmed. “Because they’re mine. They’re part of me and Xenois. They’re proof that love can create something
beautiful even in the middle of darkness.”
Lyn wiped at his eyes, clearly fighting tears. “How do I tell Zade? How do I even start that conversation?”
“Honestly and directly,” I said. “Tell him exactly what you told me. That you’re not certain but you think something might be different. That male werewitch pregnancy is possible but rare. That you’re scared but also maybe a little bit hopeful. And that you need him to support
you regardless of what confirmation reveals.”
“He’s going to panic,” Lyn predicted.
“Probably,” I agreed. “He’s going to panic and spiral and ask a thousand questions and possibly try to wrap you in protective bubble wrap. But underneath the panic will be love. So much love that you won’t know what to do with it.”
‘Is that how Xenois reacted when you told him about the twins?”

“Xenois didn’t find out until I was already showing, I admitted. We weren’t together at the time-complicated arranged marriage situation. But when he did find out, when he learned he was going to be a father? Yes. Panic and spiral and overwhelming love. It’s apparently a universal alpha response to impending parenthood.”
Lyn laughed wetly, then sobered. “What if Lynn runs tests and I’m not pregnant? What if this whole panic was for nothing?”
“Then you’ll have had a learning experience,” I said practically. “And you’ll know for future reference that magical healing after combat can make you paranoid about your body doing unexpected things.”
“That’s remarkably reasonable advice.”
“I have my moments,” I said. “Though ninety percent of the time I’m nging it and hoping nobody notices.”
“Same,” Lyn admitted.
We sat together in comfortable silence for a moment. Then Lyn spoke gain, quieter this time.
“Thank you. For listening. For not judging. For not immediately telling me I’m being irrational or that I need to tell Zade right this
second.”
“You’re welcome,” I said. “Though I do think you should tell him soon. Not because I’m judging you for waiting, but because carrying this

fear alone is harder than sharing it with someone who loves you.”
“I know,” he said. ‘I just need a little more time to work up the courage.”
“Take the time you need.” I assured him. “But Lyn? However this turn out, whatever confirmation reveals, you’re going to be okay. We’ll
make sure of it.”
‘We?’
“You’re family now,” I said simply. “Part of this chaotic, complicated, absolutely insane extended network of people who’ve decided to love each other despite all the reasons we probably shouldn’t. That means when you’re scared or struggling or facing something unprecedented, you
don’t face it alone.”
Lyn pulled me into a tight hug, his whole body shaking slightly with suppressed emotion. “I see why Xenois loves you. You’re remarkably kind when people expect you to be tough.”
“I can be both,” I said. “It’s called multitasking.”
That earned me a genuine laugh. We pulled apart, both of us taking a moment to compose ourselves before facing the world outside this
room.
“One more question,” I said as we moved toward the door. “If you are pregnant, do you want to be?”
Lyn paused, his hand on the doorknob. Then, slowly, a small smile crossed his face.
“Yeah,” he said softly. “Yeah, I think I do. Which is terrifying in its own way, but also… kind of wonderful?”
“Then I really hope Lynn’s tests confirm what you’re suspecting, I said honestly. “Because you’re going to be an amazing parent. And that child is going to be so loved they won’t know what to do with it.”
“Stop making me cry,” Lyn commanded, but he was smiling as he wiped at his eyes again.
“Never,” I said cheerfully. “Making people have feelings is my secondary superpower. Right after tactical planning and making questionable decisions that somehow work out.”
We opened the door and stepped back into the hallway, back into the organized chaos of pack leadership and coalition building and all the normal complications of our lives.
But something had shifted. Some burden had been shared, some fear had been acknowledged, some possibility had been voiced that couldn’t be unspoken.
And watching Lyn walk back toward the main rooms, his shoulders a little straighter and his expression a little lighter, I felt a fierce protective surge.
If he was pregnant, if this unlikely, unprecedented, magical thing was actually happening-we would figure it out. We would protect that child. We would make sure Lyn knew he was supported every step of the way.
Because that’s what family did.
Even when family got complicated in ways nobody had anticipated.
