Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

I could see him crumbling, the way he always did when I reminded him of his dependence on me. But there was still too much resistance in his posture, too much hesitation in his eyes, as he was trying to fight back against my plan. Because he developed a heart after just a day of staying in that house away from my influence.

It was time to use more direct methods.

I reached up and touched the small silver pendant that hung around my neck it was the same necklace and a twin to the one Riley had worn since he was a baby.

The compulsion magic woven into both pieces sparked to life as it was recognizing my need to use it to bend whoever wore the other necklace to my will and intent.

‘Riley,” I said, my voice taking on the hypnotic quality that was a result of the spell.

“You will outshine Ollie in every way possible today. You will answer questions before he can, you will complete assignments faster and better than he does. You will prove to everyone that you are the superior child.”

I watched as Riley’s resistance melted away, his eyes going slightly glassy as the compulsion took hold of him, washing always his resistance. The magic flowed through the connection between our matching pendants, taking his will and reshaping it to match my desires.

“Yes, Mama,” he said, his voice no longer having any of his earlier reluctance. “I will outshine Ollie;”

‘Good boy,” I murmured, feeling satisfied with the outcome as I nodded my head.

Riley had no idea that the “special necklace from Mama” that he’d worn his entire life was actually the tool I used to ensure his complete obedience when necessary.

As far as Riley knew, he simply couldn’t bring himself to disobey me when I used that particular tone while talking to him.

The magic made It feel like his own reluctance, his own inability to disappoint me, rather than me controlling his actions.

My phone rang, interrupting my thoughts as I looked at it. Andy’s name appeared on the screen, and I smiled as I answered, putting the call on the speaker.

“Perfect timing,’ I said by way of greeting as I continued without wasting time.

“I was just thinking about our conversation yesterday.”

“The new modifications are complete,” Andy’s voice came through the speakers, sounding both worried and professional as she continued speaking.

“The enchantment on Xenois’s necklace has been increased a lot than before..”

‘Excellent. How long before it takes full effect?”

“It should be working already, actually. The original spell he was under already made him less resistant to spells like this. All I had to do was add more on the present spell.”

I felt a thrill of anticipation run through me hearing those words from her mouth. “So he should be reeling drawn to please me, to make me happy?”

“Among other things, yes. The spell will make him want to keep you close, to protect you, to prioritize your happiness and well-being. It won’t override his free will completely, but it will make him much more amendable to your suggestions.”

“Are you alone?” Andy asked suddenly, sounding quite cautious.

“My son is with me, but there’s no need to worry,” I replied, as I glanced at Riley in the mirror. His expression remained unfocused, the compulsion keeping him in a state of compliance. “He can’t repeat anything he hears without my explicit permission.”
