Chapter 79
“Sophia,” Andy’s voice carried a warning tone that I didn’t appreciate hearing from her as I rolled my eyes in exasperation.
She really needed to stop putting her nose in my business if we were going to have prolonged cooperation with each other.
“Sophia, I know that you are stubborn but I need you to understand the scale of what you’re doing. The magical forces you’re manipulating just to get what you want- mate bonds, parent-child relationships, free will these are things that shouldn’t be tampered with at all because it’s natural. There will be
consequences.”
–
There are always consequences, Andy. The question is whether you’re strong enough to handle them.”
“This isn’t about strength or trying to prove a point. This is about balance and counterbalance. Every spell requires-”
*Every spell requires payment, yes, you’ve told me this before.” I cut her off impatiently as I added. “I’m fully prepared to pay whatever price is
necessary.”
“Are you? Because the price for what you’re attempting could be huge. Using spells on mates and children alike+”
“I didn’t ask for a lecture on magical ethics,” I snapped. “I asked you to modify a spell, which you’ve done. Our business is concluded.”
“Sophia-
I ended the call before she could continue her warnings. Andy had always been cautious, too worried about potential consequences that she never
really committed to achieving real power as the witch she was. That was the difference between us – I was willing to risk everything to get what I wanted,
while she preferred to play it safe.
We were close enough to the school now, and I could see other parents dropping off their children. Several people looked our way as I parked, and I managed to overhear pieces of their conversation as a result of enhanced hearing
*…heard she said Xenois has two sons now…”
*…but that doesn’t make sense, does it? I thought he only had one child…”
“…maybe there’s something we don’t know about…
Perfect. The rumors I’d planted yesterday at the uniform shop were already spreading, creating exactly the kind of confusion I needed.
People would see me for who I really was, the person who is supposed to be by Xenois/side and our son as a potential heir. While Lumina would be seen as a mistress, one who trapped my rightful mate with a child. By the time I was finished, everyone would be questioning what they thought they knew about
Xenois’s family situation.
I got out of the car and walked around to Riley’s side, opening his door and helping him out. He moved along with my lead without putting up
resistance or asking questions. He was still under the effects of the spell that I had placed on him making him compliant with what I needed.
Remember what we discussed,” I murmured to him as we walked toward the school entrance. “You know what you need to do.”
“Yes, Mama,” he replied in that same flat, emotionless tone.
The school hallways were filled with chaotic activity as parents brought their children to various classrooms to hand over to the teachers for the day.

I kept my head high and wore a smile on my face to draw people closer giving out an approachable aura as we made our way to the advanced class, silently noting how many people glanced our way with looks of curiosity and questions present in their eyes that they didn’t ask.
The classroom door bore a nameplate reading “Mrs. Henderson – Advanced Learning Program,” and I felt satisfaction swelling in me.
This was where Ollie spent his days, where he received special attention and praise for his abilities. Soon, it would be Riley receiving that attention
instead.
