Chapter 292
AUTHOR’S POV.
Lucian pressed down hard on Violet’s arm, feeling the heat of her blood soak through the fabric of her sleeve. Her groans were sharp, painful, each one cutting through the roar of gunfire and screams around them.
“Where exactly?” he demanded, voice low but urgent, his eyes scanning her for any signs of the wound. “Tell me where you’re hurt!”
Violet’s lips quivered. “H…here… hurts so much…” She pressed her trembling fingers against the spot on her arm where the blood had soaked through.
Lucian didn’t hesitate. He pressed harder with one hand, his other arm bracing around her shoulders to keep her down. “Stay down! Stay down!” he snapped, his voice rough, almost growling, as another round of bullets pinged off the nearby walls.
The restaurant had become chaos in an instant. Screams of terrified patrons echoed through the room. Glass shattered as gunfire ricocheted, sending shards scattering across the floor. Tables overturned. Everywhere Lucian looked, people were diving for cover, screaming in terror.
“Lucian! Move her!” Ace’s voice cut through the noise from the entrance. He dropped low behind a table, gun in hand, firing carefully but urgently.
Lucian glanced over quickly. “What’s going on Ace? I thought you said the perimeter was secure!”

again, shivering as another round cracked dangerously close. “I… I can’t…” she whispered, her voice weak.
Lucian snapped, pressing harder against her wound. “Just hold on a little longer!”
Loved as fast as they could, crawling behind overturned tables, ducking under chairs. The chaos seemed endless as bullets kept on flying from every direction, but Lucian’s eyes never left Violet.
He could feel her slipping, the warmth of blood seeping through his hands, and every instinct in him screamed to protect
her.
Finally, after what felt like hours compressed into minutes, they reached the back door. Ace was there waiting, covering Lucian’s flank. He fired as Lucian helped Violet to her feet, her legs trembling beneath her.
“Get in the car! Go!” Lucian barked, shoving her gently toward the back seat. Ace jumped in, gun ready, as Lucian followed and slammed the door.
The engine roared to life. Ace’s hands gripped the wheel as Lucian grabbed a shirt from the passenger seat. He tore it in half and pressed the fabric firmly over Violet’s arm. “Apply pressure,” he ordered, voice sharp, unyielding. “Keep it tight, or you’ll bleed out.”
Violet nodded weakly, her face pale, teeth gritted as she followed his instructions.
Ace’s eyes flicked in the rear–view mirror, alarm clear. “Boss… we’re being chased!”
Lucian’s jaw tightened. “Figures.” He glanced at Violet again, noting her pallor, her shallow breathing. “Stay awake, Violet. Don’t close your eyes. I need you awake!”

“I… it hurts so much,” she whispered through gritted teeth, tears forming at the corners of her eyes.
“I know, I know,” Lucian muttered, voice low but commanding. “You just hold on. We’re getting you out, you are going to be fine.” He lifted his gun and returned fire, every shot precise, his mind sharp and focused on survival and protection.
“Where are the rest of our men?” Lucian barked over the roar of gunfire. “Why isn’t there backup?”
Ace’s jaw clenched as he kept his eyes on the road. “They went after the sniper who took the shot! I’ve reached out, they’re on their way, boss! Just… hang on a few more minutes!”
Lucian cursed under his breath, firing again as Ace swerved to avoid a volley of bullets. “Damn it! Violet, you hear me? Don’t sleep! Keep your eyes open!”
“I… can’t…” she whispered, her grip on the shirt weakening.
“You can, just hang on a little longer!” Lucian shouted, pressing the fabric harder. His eyes flicked to the rear–view mirror. The car behind them was relentless, bullets ripping into the asphalt around them.
Finally, just as Violet’s strength seemed about to give out, a convoy of their backup vehicles appeared, cutting off the pursuing car. Lucian allowed himself a breath, not letting his guard down even for a second.
Ace nodded in relief, taking advantage of the break in gunfire to speed away from the danger zone.
“Hospital. Now!” Lucian snapped, keeping his gaze on Violet. Her eyelids drooped, and he could feel her pulse faltering. “Ace, hurry!”
The hospital loomed ahead. As soon as they arrived, doctors rushed toward them. Lucian lifted Violet protectively, ignoring the chaosi

cared. She didn’t feel safe unless Lucian was there with her.
Les chest tightened at the desperation in her voice, the fear in her grey eyes mirroring something he hadn’t realized he remembered until now….Alina. He gave the doctor a sharp glance. “Back off. I’ll carry here myself.” The doctor raised his hand in surrender. “Where do we need to go?”
The doctor pointed in the right direction.
They moved into an empty emergency bay. Lucian didn’t even notice the pain in his side until a nurse approached, examining him.
“Sir… you’ve been grazed. Let me dress your wound so it doesn’t get infected.”
Lucian’s eyes flicked down, noticing the blood staining his abdomen. “Graze,” he muttered under his breath. He didn’t flinch, just pulled up his shirt to let her work.
The nurse, momentarily distracted by him, hesitated with the bandages as she practically drool over him. Lucian’s voice cut through sharply. “Focus on your damn job. Now. Or get the fuck away from me.”
“I’m… sorry si..sir.” She stuttered, quickly refocusing, her hands shaking slightly as she dressed the shallow wound. Lucian’s eyes followed her with the intensity of a predator ensuring nothing distracted her from what she was meant to be doing.
Finally, Lucian turned to check on Violet again. Her breathing was shallow, pulse weak but she was alright.

Chapter 299
After both he and Violet were treated, Lucian and her were taken to a private recovery room. Violet was gently lowered onto the hospital bed, and the nurses carefully started an IV drip to stabilize her and help her regain some strength. Lucian stayed by her side, his hands brushing the hair from her forehead as he kept a vigilant eye on her.
There was something about her that brought out the protective side of him, he couldn’t explain it but he knew he had to protect her, and this had nothing to do with the answers she held.
