His intention couldn’t be clearer; if the truth was dragged out, Noelle was the one who genuinely suffered.

“Noelle is also a member of the Kains, isn’t she?” Kenneth reminded them, “My suggestion is to avoid pressing charges. You’re all from the same household–sit down, talk it through, and see if you can settle this privately first.”

“Who’s family with her?” Willow snapped, voice sharp as a blade. “I know my own son! Yes, he fools around, but he’s soft–hearted. If that lowborn brat didn’t provoke him first, he’d never touch her! Officer, don’t defend her! This wholeness is her doing!

“And you’re saying my son hired thugs to attack her? Then why is she standing here perfectly fine while my boy is injured? What, are you claiming she single–handedly beat up that many people? That’s ridiculous!”

Viola’s eyes shifted slightly. She didn’t know all the details, but she could easily guess what happened. Elmer probably picked a fight with Noelle first, and those men were most likely the ones he called.

None of that mattered to her.

What mattered was making everything fall on Noelle.

“Officer, I find that hard to believe. If my brother really hired people to harm her, why is he the only one hurt while she’s untouched?

“And that alley didn’t have any security cameras, correct? So how can you prove Noelle didn’t attack my brother first, and he only contacted his friends to protect himself? Isn’t that right, Elmer?”

Viola shot Elmer a hint, and he immediately understood, following her lead. “Yeah, that’s exactly what happened! Noelle struck first!”

The alley didn’t have any cameras to begin with Noelle could deny it, but she had nothing solid to show,

The guys Elmer brought would obviously side with him. How could her single word outweigh so many voices?

Whether she admitted it or not, they would pin it on her.

“That’s right! Noelle threw the first hit!”

“It was her! Officer! We’re the ones attacked! You have to defend us!”

“The steel pipes at the scene have Elmer’s and his friends‘ fingerprints …” Kenneth said, brows drawn.

“What about Noelle’s? Are her prints on them?”

Kenneth’s expression tightened even more.

They were present too.

Noelle’s fingerprints were on some of the pipes, yes.

But with years of experience, he could still sense that Noelle was the one wronged.

“Kenneth, Elmer is our child. Noelle is just a girl we kicked out–nobody even knows who her real parents are. Are you seriously taking her side?”

It was an open threat.

Just as the tension peaked.

“Kenneth, Oswald from Riverdale Vocational College is here,” a younger officer rushed over.

“Oswald?!” Kenneth’s headache worsened instantly. He was already overwhelmed. Oswald? Why him?

Don’t be fooled by the ‘vocational college‘ label this man’s influence wasn’t something a small local station could brush off.

“He says he’s here for Noelle.”

For Noelle?

“Bring him in.”

Soon, a short, broad–shouldered middle–aged man walked in with steady authority. It was Oswald from Riverdale Vocational College.

His stare was sharp and heavy, the kind that belonged to someone long used to commanding others.

“Mr. Nicholson.” Kenneth stepped forward quickly respectfully.

Oswald’s sharp look swept the entire room before landing on Noelle. Seeing her unharmed and composed, he gave a faint approving nod. He turned back to Kenneth, tone firm and leaving no room for debate.

“Kenneth, Noelle is a student under my supervision. I heard she was brought in, so I came to

check on her.

“She’s been held here for over an hour, hasn’t she?” Oswald glanced at his watch, then fixed his gaze on Kenneth. “Tell me–have you completed your investigation? What did you conclude?”

“Oswald, here’s what we have so far,” Kenneth chose each word with caution. “Currently… including Mr. Elmer, more than a dozen people claim Ms. Kain started the fight. We’re still verifying…”

Willow knew Oswald as well, and she understood his background carried weight.

The Kains had money, sure, but when it came to people embedded in the system, they still had to tread lightly.

She stepped up and spoke politely, “Mr. Nicholson, sorry you had to come all the way here. You really didn’t need to. Noelle causes trouble for you at school all the time, doesn’t she? Well, good–let her sit in jail for a while and reflect.”

“Who ends up sitting in jail to ‘reflect‘–that’s far from settled.” Oswald gave a cold, dismissive laugh.

“My student isn’t someone anyone can smear without evidence. Officer, this is our classroom recording. It clearly shows Janice provoking Noelle first, and Elmer arriving afterward to attack her. Noelle was defending herself, nothing more.”

Oswald held up his phone to show the officers the footage. “You can also see that after Noelle left, Elmer took out his phone, made a call, and said, ‘Bring a dozen guys. Help me teach someone a lesson.“”
