“Ms. Zimmer, there’s nothing to investigate. Only Teagan touched the speech. If it wasn’t her, who else could it be-”

Noelle’s cold gaze swept toward Holly. “You’re jumping in pretty fast. Ms. Zimmer already said she needs proof, yet you’re desperate to blame someone with none. Why so nervous? Feeling guilty and trying to find someone to take the fall?”

Panic flashed across Holly’s face. “Noelle! What nonsense are you talking about? This has nothing to do with me!”

“If it has nothing to do with you, then stop talking. The more you rush to speak, the more suspicious you look.”

Holly shot her a hateful stare. Afraid of drawing more attention, she stiffened her face and walked away to pretend to be busy.

Kiara kept directing everyone to continue the investigation.

Noelle stayed where she was. Her gaze calmly followed Holly. She noticed Holly standing alone in the hallway.

Noelle walked up behind Holly, her voice steady. “If you admit it now, it’s still not too late.”

Holly spun around, panic flashing across her face before she forced herself to calm down. “I have no idea what you’re talking about!”

“I know your background isn’t great. You come from one of those tougher states, and getting into Kingstowne University wasn’t easy,” Noelle said flatly.

Holly felt mocked. “Why bring that up?!”

“I’m reminding you how hard you worked to get here.” Noelle’s gaze stayed cold. “If you admit it now, I’ll let this go once. But if you keep denying it and the truth comes out later, the consequences won’t be the same. You already have one violation. Another one means expulsion.”

Holly clenched her teeth tightly. “I didn’t do anything. Why would I confess? And who do you think you are, lecturing me? Yes, you were born lucky! You have a powerful husband and connections with the Four Great Families in Kingstowne. How impressive! And even though you’re married, you flirt openly with Mr. Lucas in front of everyone!

“But that doesn’t give you the right to smear me. Just because my family is poor, you think you can slander me? If you say I did it, show proof. Otherwise, you’re slandering me on purpose!”

Noelle looked at Holly’s stubborn, argumentative face. Her expression didn’t change. “Holly, this is your only chance. Think carefully.”

“I don’t need your chance!”

With that, Holly glared viciously and stormed away.

Noelle watched her leave, thinking that some people never admit their mistakes until the consequences hit them.

Holly returned backstage with reddened eyes. Several volunteers she was close to rushed over.

“Holly, why are your eyes so red?” one girl asked with concern.

Holly wiped her eyes and deliberately raised her voice. “It’s nothing. I was just falsely accused by Noelle. She insisted I switch her speech and even threatened me to confess.”
