“Are you going to take everything away from me just by bringing in a random girl? I’m the daughter my mom spent 20 years looking for! If you can’t stand me that much… then I might as well die!”
Viola struggled toward a nearby pillar, looking like she was ready to prove it with her life.
“Charlotte! No! My baby!”
Mary was terrified. She held onto Viola tightly, then turned to her dad and brothers on the stage with a look of hatred and despair. ‘You see that?! Are you going to force my daughter to die for an outsider?! There is no way Noelle is my child! She’s just a social climber with rotten intentions! Even looking at her face makes me sick!”
Her words were so cruel that even Sebastian and Lucas looked ready to snap, their eyes turning sharp as knives.
Noelle stayed calm. Only her eyelashes trembled slightly.
‘Let her go!”
Angus yelled, slamming his cane onto the floor. He looked at Viola’s fake drama with ice–cold eyes. “Let her hit the pillar! The doors ire right there, and so is the pillar! If you want to die, nobody is stopping you!”
fiola’s crying and struggling stopped instantly.
She stared at Angus in disbelief. His eyes were ice–cold, like he was looking at a clown.
All her “determination” vanished. She sat frozen in Mary’s arms–too scared to actually do it, but too embarrassed to stop. It was wkward and pathetic.
Ingus stopped looking at her and turned back to Noelle. His voice softened with clear affection. “Noey, take off the mask. Let the ›lind ones see.”
Everyone stared at Noelle.
Voelle reached up and hooked her finger under the strap of the mask. Slowly, she pulled it down.
The mask fell, revealing a pale, delicate face.
When her face was fully exposed under the lights-
‘Gasp!”
A loud, collective gasp echoed through the entire hall.
Mary’s eyes went wide as she stared at Noelle’s face. Her pupils shrank, her mouth hung open, and she froze like she’d been hit by a paralyzing spell.
The resemblance was insane.
The face shape. The brows. The nose.
Especially the eyes–the shape and that cool, distant look. It was almost exactly the same when Mary was young!

Way more similar than Viola standing next to her with smeared makeup.
The guests went wild.
“My God! She looks just like her!”
“Those eyes, that vibe… She’s exactly like Mrs. Guzman when she was young!”
“How did we not notice before? Noelle looks so much like Mrs. Guzman!”
“No wonder she looked familiar! I’ve seen old photos of Mrs. Guzman in business magazines!”

“Wait… Her real daughter looks like this, and she still couldn’t recognize her? And she poured all her love into the fake one?”
“She must be blind…”
The comments came like waves, each one stabbing straight into Mary’s heart.
Her lips trembled, but she couldn’t say a word.
She stared blankly at Noelle’s face–so similar to her own–while her head buzzed.
The scrunched face of a baby from 20 years ago slowly overlapped with the cool, delicate face of the girl standing there now.
She didn’t want to admit it, but looking at Noelle’s face, she couldn’t deny it.
So…
So Dad was… right?
Noelle is my daughter?
Then what have I done?
To protect a fake, she had insulted, screamed at, and even physically hit her own child!
Mary swayed on her feet. Her face turned pale, like all her strength was sucked out at once. Her arms, which were just holding Viola, dropped to her sides.
“Mom…” Viola panicked when she felt her hand slip.
