When Angus saw her, his frown deepened. His voice was low and heavy. “We just got word that Sebastian brought a large group of people and surrounded Menzie Estate. It’s causing a huge commotion.”
“What?”
Mary snapped fully awake. Her voice shot up, full of disgust and accusation. “Sebastian? I knew it! I told you he was no good! Just a thug, completely out of control! He actually dared to lead people to surround his own family’s home?! What kind of behavior is that? If this gets out, how will our family show our faces? And where’s Noelle? Is she running around with him, causing trouble too?!”
The more she spoke, the angrier she became. The thought of Noelle being with Sebastian made her feel that he had corrupted her daughter, and her fury surged.
Angus tried to explain. “Calm down first. Something must’ve caused this. The Menzies‘ side probably-”
“What cause could there be?”
Mary cut him off heatedly. “No matter how serious it is, you don’t solve it with violence! What is this, a criminal gang? By tomorrow morning, all of Kingstowne will be laughing at us! Laughing at the man our daughter chose!”
The more she spoke, the more humiliated she felt, and her anger only grew.
“That’s enough. Now isn’t the time for this,” her eldest brother, Brian, said. “I’ll call Noey and find out what’s really going on.”
Brian took out his phone and dialed Noelle’s number. Mary, already blinded by anger, rushed over and snatched the phone from his hand just as the call connected.
She didn’t wait for the other side to speak before launching into a furious tirade.
“Noelle! Is this you? Are you with Sebastian right now? What are you doing? Surrounding the Menzies with a bunch of people? Are you trying to start a rebellion? Do you have any idea how badly this will impact things? Get back here immediately! Right now! I’m ordering you to stop this ridiculous behavior at once! Otherwise, I’ll never acknowledge you as my daughter!”
Her voice was sharp, cold and commanding.
There was a brief silence on the other end. Then Noelle’s voice came through, cool and steady, but clearly displeased. “Mrs. Guzman, we’re saving lives. Mr. Theodore is in critical condition. He was poisoned and is being held. Sebastian is carrying out a rescue. Please don’t make trouble.”
“Saving lives? What kind of rescue involves surrounding someone’s home with thugs? Stop covering for him! I say he’s taking this chance to steal the family fortune! Noelle, what kind of spell has he put you under? Come back right now! Stop embarrassing yourself by following him!”
Mary didn’t believe a word of it. She was convinced Noelle was defending Sebastian, which only made her angrier.
“I know exactly what my husband is doing. It’s not for you to comment on. If you called just to say this, then I’m sorry, but i don’t have time to listen.”
Noelle’s voice turned cold.
“So this is how you treat me now,” Mary snapped, trembling. “Fine. You think you’re independent? Then go live your life. I’m done

with you. As far as I’m concerned, I never had a daughter.”

With that, she slammed the call shut and threw the phone onto the couch. Her chest heaved violently. Tears welled in her eyes, from both anger and hurt.
She felt that all her efforts had been met with defiance and misunderstanding from her own daughter.
Noelle really wasn’t as considerate as Viola.
The thought made her feel cold inside.
“You…”
Angus looked at her, angry and helpless at the same time. He gestured for Brian to hand him the phone.
Alina frowned slightly nearby. She didn’t say anything, but there was clear disapproval in her eyes at Mary’s impulsiveness and refusal to understand the situation.
Angus took a deep breath and dialed Noelle again. This time, his tone was much gentler. “Noey, Mary was too emotional just now. Don’t take it to heart. What exactly is going on? How did Theodore end up in critical condition? Do you need help?”
On the other end, Noelle explained the situation briefly and efficiently, including how Theodore had been poisoned by Royce and Olivia, how Ethan was being restrained, and how Sebastian was carrying out an urgent rescue.
By the time Angus finished listening, his face had darkened completely.
This was attempted murder and illegal detention.
“This is outrageous,” Angus snapped, fury rising in his voice. “The Hernandez family has completely crossed the line. Noey, do you have enough people on your side? If not, say the word and I’ll send reinforcements immediately. Theodore cannot be allowed to come to any harm.”
“Grandpa, not for now. Sebastian has already taken control of the situation-”
Before Noelle could finish, Alina stood up. Holding her car keys, she nodded to Angus and turned to leave without hesitation, her steps firm and decisive.
Angus immediately understood. He spoke into the phone, “No need to say more. Alina is already on her way with people. Noey, stay safe. Make sure you get Theodore out unharmed. If you need anything, say the word. The Guzmans have your back.”
After hanging up, Angus turned to Mary, who was still sulking and wiping away tears. His voice was stern. “Did you hear that? Theodore was poisoned and nearly killed. His life is hanging by a thread. Sebastian and Noey are saving him and stopping evil. And what did you do? You scolded them without even understanding the situation. I think you’ve truly lost your judgment.”
