“Don’t talk about her like that. She’s been studying hard lately,” Sebastian said. “She’s not home; she went to school.”

After speaking up for Noelle, Sebastian looked at her and nodded politely. “Dr. Kain.”

Noelle nodded back just as seriously. “Mr. Menzie.”

Noelle felt a bit nervous. Lucas was clueless, but Sebastian wasn’t. He was way too sharp. She was terrified he would recognize her.

Luckily, Sebastian only glanced at her lightly and then looked away. He clearly wasn’t suspicious.

Noelle didn’t want to stay too long and risk getting caught, so she said, “I have things to do later, so let’s start the needle therapy now.”

Sebastian leaned back on the sofa as she asked. Noelle gently rolled up his pant legs. He looked calm and didn’t seem bothered.

She picked up the needles. Her movements were quick and steady. In a while, several needles were precisely inserted into his pressure points.

Noelle’s movements were so smooth and confident that even Sebastian couldn’t help but stare at her for a second. With the veil covering her face, all he could see was the bright red mole near her eye and how focused she looked.

Lucas stood there with his arms crossed. He had already seen her work her magic on his shoulder, so he was totally chill!

He practiced modern medicine and didn’t know much about holistic medicine, but even he could tell this was impressive.

Half an hour later.

Noelle finished the treatment and packed up the needles. “Well? Do you

feel any

better?”

Sebastian tried moving his legs. That heavy, frozen feeling he always had seemed to lighten up -just a tiny bit, but it was the first real improvement he’d felt in years.

“A little sore,” Sebastian said honestly.

“Feeling something is a good sign.”

Sebastian looked up at Noelle, as if his gaze could see through the thin veil. “Your technique is impressive. Who taught you?”

Noelle’s hands froze for a split second while she was packing, but she quickly recovered. Evading the question, she answered, “Just some simple skills I picked up myself. Nothing special.”

Since she didn’t want to talk about it, Sebastian didn’t push her.

“I’m done for today. I’ll be back in three days for the next session.”

Noelle packed her needle case and turned to leave.

“Wait, Dr. Kain,” Sebastian suddenly said.

Noelle froze. Her heart skipped a beat, but she forced herself to stay calm as she turned around. “Anything else, Mr. Menzie?”

Sebastian gave Primo a small nod. Primo immediately stepped forward and respectfully handed Noelle a check.

Noelle glanced down at it–the amount had a long string of zeros that made the money she made from Lucas look like pocket change.

“This is for the treatment,” Sebastian said, his voice unreadable. “If you can actually fix my legs, I will reward you even more.”

Noelle looked at the check, raised an eyebrow, and pushed it back. “You’re too kind, Mr. Menzie, but I don’t want the money.”

Lucas was shocked. “You don’t want it?”

He still remembered her money–grubbing attitude earlier–demanding a million from him without blinking. Now she said no?!

“Is there a problem?” Noelle said calmly.

“No, I mean, if you won’t take Sebastian’s money, why did you take mine?!”

“Oh.” Noelle stayed expressionless. “Maybe it’s because Mr. Menzie is easier on the eyes, so I’m giving him a pass. As for you, Mr. Lucas…”

Noelle paused meaningfully, then looked Lucas up and down before letting out an ambiguous chuckle, and then walked straight out of the manor.
