Sebastian frowned.

Lucas finally felt better. With his hands folded behind his back, he walked out proudly. But he made up his mind. Next time, he would look so cool, he’d totally crush that so–called Dr. Kain.
“There is no other woman. Don’t listen to his nonsense.”
Of course, Noelle already knew there was no other woman.
She looked at Sebastian with bright eyes and giggled. “Honey, are you explaining yourself to me? A man only explains himself when he really loves a woman. He’s afraid she might misunderstand him. Boohoo! Honey! I knew it! You really love me! And I love you too. Kiss, kiss, kiss!”
She made heart shapes with her fingers, moving them from her left eye to her right, then to her lips, and finally over her chest. Every move was smooth and practiced.
Sebastian watched quietly. Then he turned the wheelchair and went upstairs as if nothing had happened. But if someone looked carefully, they would notice the tips of his ears had turned slightly red.
Three days later, it was time for needle therapy again.
As usual, Noelle made up a reason to go out.
This time, she did not visit the night market. Instead, she went straight to Melrose Manor.
After what happened last time, Lucas dressed much more boldly today.
With his charming eyes, he really did look pretty good.
But his style was strange. A bright flower–patterned shirt, a thick silver necklace, and a messy, curled hairstyle on purpose, like a classic bad–boy look.
Even Noelle couldn’t help taking another glance.
“See? I told you I’m good–looking!”
Primo hesitated, wanting to say something. Why did it feel like Dr. Kain’s look wasn’t admiration at all, but even more dislike?

“You left so quickly last time, Dr. Kain. We didn’t get the chance to talk. Would you join me for a meal? Let me properly thank you for treating Sebastian.” Lucas moved closer as he spoke,
Noelle stopped. Her eyes, partly hidden behind the veil, swept over him calmly. That clearly said, Are you okay?
“No need. Mr. Menzie has already paid the medical fee,” she said.
“That’s his bill, not mine!” Lucas refused to back down. “So what do you like? Handbags? Jewelry? Just tell me…”
Noelle cut him off, “Mr. Lucas, I appreciate your kindness but I’m not interested in a social butterfly like you.”
Lucas froze.
Social butterfly?!
She meant me?!
Noelle said, “Dinner invites and gifts won’t work on me. But if it were Mr. Menzie … I might consider it.” As she spoke, she blinked at Sebastian, making it very clear who had her interest.
Lucas grabbed his chest like he had been badly hurt.
“Where is Noelle?! Where did she go? Hurry and call her down! Someone is trying to steal her husband!”
Duo replied, “Mrs. Menzie went out today.”
“Out again?!” Lucas was shocked. Why was it that every time Dr. Kain appeared, Noelle was never around?
That was way too much of a coincidence…
“The more I think about it, the scarier it feels. Just thinking about it gives me chills, Noelle and this Dr. Kain never show up together…”
He stared at the doctor. Her body shape looked very similar to Noelle’s. Suddenly, a crazy popped into his head.
idea
Noelle and Dr. Kain look alike. Every time Dr. Kain comes, Noelle is gone. And whenever Noelle is here, Dr. Kain is nowhere to be seen.
But he quickly pushed the thought away.

He was overthinking it.
There was no way Noelle and Dr. Kain were the same person.

That girl had gone through many hard years at the Kains. She had been raised in all the wrong ways and was completely useless. What could she possibly know about medicine? If she were truly that skilled, why would she be studying at a trade school?
Sebastian heard Noelle’s words and frowned slightly.
“Lie down. I’ll begin the treatment,” Noelle said. She even placed a pillow behind his lower back to help him feel more comfortable.
“No need. I’ll handle it myself,” Sebastian replied, pulling away from her hand.
Lucas quickly stepped forward. “That’s right! Dr. Kain, you don’t need to do all that. Just focus on the needle therapy!”
He might not like Noelle, but still–she was Sebastian’s wife, no question about it. If someone tried to take her place, he had to support her.
“Sebastian is already married. You just didn’t meet his wife either time,” Lucas said, stressing the word “wife” very strongly.
Noelle understood at once. He was warning her that Sebastian was taken and that she shouldn’t have any improper thoughts.
She gave a soft smile. “I’ve heard about Mrs. Menzie as well. People say she married into the family for good fortune, a substitute bride. It sounds like she and Mr. Menzie aren’t very close.”
Lucas tensed right away, feeling alert.
Wow. She even knows that? She’s clearly serious about Sebastian!
“Where did you hear such rumors? Sebastian and his wife are very close! She’s beautiful, kind, and elegant. She’s talented too. Regular girls can’t match her,” Lucas said smoothly.
He then nudged Sebastian with his elbow. “Isn’t that right?”
Sebastian nodded without hesitation. “Yes. My wife is special. She’s truly outstanding.”
Primo and Duo stood nearby, their expressions hard to describe.
