Chapter 390 Preparation for Filming
Just as Mary was happily getting ready to take Noelle out, her phone suddenly rang.
She glanced at the caller ID. It was Charlotte.
She hesitated for a moment, then walked aside to answer it.

From the other end came Viola’s voice, weak and tearful, full of grievance. “Mom… are you free today? I … I made some soup for you… but… but I accidentally burned my hand. It hurts so much… and there’s no medicine at home…”
Mary’s heart clenched at once. “You burned your hand? Is it serious? I… I’ll come over right now!”
After hanging up, the joy and anticipation on Mary’s face were replaced by anxiety and worry.
She walked back to Noelle, her eyes flickering. She didn’t quite dare meet her daughter’s gaze. Her voice was apologetic, but clearly rushed and half–hearted. “Noey… um… I have something urgent to take care of and have to go out right away. How about we go shopping another day? I promise I’ll spend time with you properly next time.”
She didn’t even wait for Noelle to respond. She grabbed her purse in a hurry, turned around, and rushed out the door.
Noelle stood there, watching Mary’s flustered figure disappear. Her face showed no emotion, her eyes calm and still.
Even beneath that calm, there was a hint of understanding and a quiet, knowing mockery–like she’d expected this all along.
What was she even hoping for?
t didn’t really matter anyway.
She had never truly expected Mary to act like a mother and go shopping with her.
Mary quickly arrived at Viola’s villa.
The moment Viola saw her, she threw herself into her arms. “Mom, sob… you’re here. I missed you so much.”
Seeing Viola’s reddened hand, Mary felt a sharp pang of pity. “Why did you have to make soup yourself? Look, you got hurt.”
“I just wanted to make some soup for you…” Viola said softly, full of grievance. “It’s my fault for being useless. Mom, did I disturb you again?”
Mary had a lot she wanted to say, but in the end, she swallowed it all back. “It’s fine. Forget it. I’ll stay here with you today”
As for Noelle…
Noelle had so many people around her. She wasn’t lacking company for shopping. Mary could just send her some money. It’s different for Viola.
Viola only had her.
Mary stayed at the villa with Viola for the entire day before leaving.

Viola, acting reluctantly to part, personally saw her off. But the moment Mary left, her expression changed. She showed a look of impatience and walked back into the living room.
However, as soon as she pushed open the living room door, her steps abruptly stopped.
A man was already seated on the couch.
He wore a perfectly tailored black suit, sitting tall with his back straight. Even seated, his solid build and balanced proportions were hard to miss.
Turned slightly toward the door, he held an unlit cigar between his fingers, casually playing with an antique lighter.
There was something about him that felt heavy and unsettling, like the quiet, chilling presence of someone who’d seen a lot of violence firsthand.
When Viola saw him, her expression changed, and a flicker of fear crossed her eyes.
Before long, the day arrived to film Terrence’s show, Exploring Holistic Medicine.
The filming was set in a scenic but fairly remote rural area, where many holistic herbal practices and plant–growing methods were said to be still preserved.
Early in the morning, a production van was already parked at Melrose Manor.
‘Mrs. Menzie! This one too!”
Mrs. Menzie! Don’t forget this! There are lots of mosquitoes in the hills!”
Mrs. Menzie, Mrs. Menzie! Your tumbler! The insulated one! And some snacks! Eat if you get hungry!”
Jus and several servants surrounded Noelle, bustling around her nonstop, each holding items they thought she might need.
There was an extra–large insulated tumbler, bug spray, sunscreen, energy bars, snacks, a first–aid kit… and even a compact folding Umbrella.
Their faces were full of pride and excitement, as if their lady were about to appear on TV as a big star. They looked ready to pack up he entire house and send it with her.
Voelle looked at the pile of items stacked like a small hill in front of her and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
‘Isn’t this a bit too much…?”
‘Not too much! Not too much at all! Better to bring more! You’ll use it all!”
Lucas, sitting on the couch, couldn’t help laughing “With all that, are they trying to bury Noelle alive?”
Sebastian came downstairs, took out a custom–made phone, and slipped it into Noelle’s pocket. “This phone has tracking, and you can make calls even without a signal. Take it with you.”
“Yes, yes, bring it!”
