“They’re not outsiders,” Lucas said quietly. “They’re my friends.”

Jaylee’s tears came even faster. She reached out for him, desperate, but Lucas stepped back, dodging her hand with effortless distance.
“I’ve already taken care of everything for you,” he told her, pointing to a folder on the coffee table. “It’s a one–bedroom apartmen fully furnished. You can move in right away. There’s a million in the bank account–the password is your birthday. I’ll keep paying your mom’s medical bills.”
Jaylee stared at the folder, unable to move.
“That’s it? You’re just sending me away like this?” Her voice shook. “We were together for two months, and this is what I get?”
Lucas’s gaze finally flickered. But it wasn’t guilt that surfaced–just a faint, cold amusement.
“Sending you away?” he repeated, then shook his head. “Jaylee, in these two months, I never even touched you, never let you suffer. Whatever you wanted, I gave it. When your mom was sick, I handled everything. Now, I’ve set you up with a home and enough money to keep you and your mom comfortable for years.”
He paused, his eyes steady. “You don’t need to act like some tragic victim.”
Jaylee choked on words she couldn’t say.
She stood there, mascara streaming down her cheeks, makeup ruined.
Every argument she tried to summon felt empty, powerless.
In the end, she bit down on her lip, straightened her chin, and made her voice as fierce as she could. “I don’t want any of it. You’ll regret this.”
She whirled and stomped upstairs, making her footsteps echo with defiance.
Half an hour later, she came down dragging her suitcase.
Inside were only her old clothes. She left every designer item Lucas had bought her.
She wanted to make a point–she wasn’t some gold–digger.
At the door, she paused and looked back.
Lucas sat on the couch, eyes on his phone, as if she didn’t exist.
Jaylee gritted her teeth and walked out.
The door closed behind her with a soft click.
She ended up in a cramped, dingy motel room in the city.
The walls were stained and yellowed.

Chapter 465 Kicked Out
Jaylee lay on the bed, staring up at the flickering ceiling light, motionless.
Her phone lay on the pillow, the screen lighting up and fading, over and over.
No new messages.
Two days passed.
Lucas never called.
She bit her lip, telling herself to be patient. He was probably just busy. He would come for her–he always did.
He liked her too much to let go. He couldn’t possibly stay away.
The second day, she watched her phone all day.
Still nothing.
On the third day, she went to the hospital.
Renee looked a little better.
When Jaylee walked in, Renee paused.
Her eyes fell to Jaylee’s bare wrist–no watch, no jewelry–and her plain sweatshirt.
“Jaylee, what happened?” Renee sat up. “Did you have a fight with Lucas?”
“No,” Jaylee said, turning away, setting the fruit she brought on the bedside table. “Stop guessing.”

Renee watched her for a long moment, then sighed. “Jaylee, I kept telling you that Lucas is a good man. Treat him right. Don’t be st stubborn. If you two fight, just make up.”
Jaylee scoffed. “Why should I be the one to make up?”
“Because he’s good to you!” Renee’s voice rose from desperation. “I’ve seen how he treats you these months. He cares, Jaytee. He
“That’s enough,” Jaylee snapped, her patience gone. “Don’t worry about it. I know what I’m doing.”
Renee saw her daughter’s stubbornness and wanted to protest, but she only sighed.
Jaylee sat by the bed, looking at the sunlight through the window. She let out a bitter laugh.
She wasn’t going to apologize to Lucas.
She didn’t even like him.
She just needed what he could give her—a ticket into that world.
And besides, she was sure–Lucas would come find her.
He had to.
