The next day.
Lucas and Sebastian spent the whole day showing Noelle around Kingstowne. In the evening, they took her to a high–end restaurant for dinner.
Sebastian handed her the menu and let her order first.
After Noelle finished, Lucas took the menu. He glanced at what she had chosen, then added a few dishes for himself and a few favorites Sebastian liked.
Before the food arrived, Lucas excused himself and went to the restroom.
“Try their strawberry dessert,” Sebastian said, gently pushing the plate toward Noelle. “You would probably find it suits your taste.”
“Sebastian?!”
A sharp voice suddenly cut through the air.
A man dressed in a flashy, careless way strode over, one arm wrapped tightly around a woman.
He wore sunglasses and a loud floral shirt. When he saw Sebastian, he pulled his sunglasses down and laughed with clear mockery,
“So it really is you! You’re back in Kingstowne?!”
His voice was harsh. Noelle frowned slightly and looked up.
The man had features similar to Lucas–sharp, hunter–like eyes–but his expression was far too loose and vulgar. There was something lecherous in his gaze.
The hand he kept around the woman was moving in a way that made Noelle uncomfortable.
Noelle quietly glanced at Sebastian. Since he stayed silent, she said nothing too.
“You have the nerve to come back,” the man sneered. “Your damn parents ruined my cousin’s family and left them with nothing. Now you’re back–what? Your grandpa is getting weaker, so you want to fight my cousin for the inheritance?”
Sebastian didn’t respond. He didn’t even look at him.
That only made the man angrier. He kicked the leg of the table. “I’m talking to you! Are you deaf?”
Sebastian finally raised his head. His cold gaze swept over the man.
Tarquin Hernandez’s heart clenched in fear. He was clearly shaken, but only for a moment. He quickly steadied himself.
So what if Sebastian looked scary? He wouldn’t dare lay a hand on him.

Sebastian’s family owed his family. Owed his cousin.
“Get lost,” Sebastian said coldly.

With a woman beside him, Tarquin felt humiliated. His face darkened. “Sebastian! Who are you telling to get lost? Your parents were monsters! They got my cousin’s parents killed and left him an orphan when he was still a child! And now you dare to come back here? You’re just like them, nothing but-”
Smack! The sound was sharp and clear.
Before he could finish, Noelle raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face.
Sebastian’s lips had been pressed tight, his jaw tense. No matter how badly Tarquin insulted him, he had held back without a word When Noelle’s slap landed, he froze for a split second.
The slap was fierce. Tarquin staggered, and the woman beside him screamed softly. She instantly let go of his arm and stepped back, afraid Noelle might turn on her next.
Her cheek burned with pain. Tarquin stared at Noelle in disbelief, his face twisted with rage. “Bitch! How dare you hit me!”
He was furious. He was the heir of the Hernandezes; how could he be slapped by a woman in public?
“You insulted my husband right in front of me,” Noelle said coldly. “What? You think I’m blind?”
“Husband?” Tarquin sneered. “Him? A cripple?”
Half of his face was already swollen. The anger rushed all the way to his head as he raised his hand and swung at her.
Before his palm could land, Sebastian moved.
The chair scraped loudly across the floor. The solid edge slammed straight into Tarquin’s stomach. Tarquin gasped. His face went pale as he doubled over. When he looked up and saw the icy calm radiating from Sebastian, some of his reason finally returned.
He took a deep breath and looked back at Noelle, studying her. “You said husband? Sebastian is your husband?”
“Who else could it be?” Noelle shot back.
with a cold laugh.
“Haha. Little miss, you’re not bad–looking,” Tarquin mocked. “How can you bring yourself to marry a cripple?” He leaned closer, his voice dripping with scorn. “Do you even know who Sebastian is? His whole family are murderers-”
Slap!
Noelle struck him again.
